Artimis kept his mouth shut and walked inside. ___________________________________________________________________________ Thomas knelt down. "I'm sorry, mate. Its just what I had to do." He considered taking the hare inside the town. He couldn't do any harm anyway. "I'm going to get you help..." Thomas opened the gate and picked up the hare, helping him walk inside. ___________________________________________________________________________ Thomas left the hare in the town infirmary. He had never harmed a creature. Not really. He made it to the shore, gasping for breath. His heart sank. Artimis was gone. "Oh no..." He looked around. "No, no..."

Rinn had been watching the great ships anchored in the cove since the early hours of the morning from the dune top. She had seen next to no signs of life since the ships had dropped anchor. Throwing caution to the winds, Rinn decided to venture out to the closest of the ships. Slidding down the seaward face of the dune she shed her long dark cloak, rolling it up and tying it acoss her chest. Beneath the dark cloak Rinn still wore the faded and worn uniform of a sea otter captain. Wary of any prying eyes she made her way across the sand to the gently rolling waves. The closest ship was only a few feet off shore now that the tide had turned. Wading out she made her way to the anchor rope and climbed up it...

Guinn smiled as she saw Pitach enter with the squirrel. "Close the door, Pit..." ~~~~~~~~~~~ Once Pitach and the others boarded the ship, Guinn had ordered they pull anchor and head back to consult Usarrian. Two big hares started pulling on the rope, and as the heavy, waterlogged rope started to come up over the deck, one of the hares jumped. "Harrun! We've got an otter on our line!" The large otter who'd been out following ptach came running, looking down at Rinn. "Ahoy there! What are ye doin' here.. pretended to be a barnicle?" (Ok, now i've really got to go. )

Rinn Fian heaved herself over the ship's railing. "Gettin' off that blasted shore. 'Sides, I'm what your worst dreams are made of." Rinn said with a smirk. She feared no one, especially after standing before the gates of dark forest five times. Rinn was not a slight creature as she drew herself up to her full height and leveled her pale gaze on the otter who had addresed her. There is something about the eyes of a creature who has faught death and won, a strange and terrifying light. Rinn Fian had faught death five times and had won five times...

Harrun leaned over and muttered to the hare bhind him, "Go get Captain Guinn..." then he turned back to the otter, and addressed her in a much more respectful tone, as his crewmate ran off to get the captain. "Lady, I didn't mean to be so crude wi' dya... Uhh.. let me get ye some vittles and a blanket.." he looked at her nervously, glancing over his shoulder again to see if Guinn was backing him up yet. ~~~~~~~~~ Guinn Looked Artimis up and Down, as well as her first mate. "Pitach..." She held her head and paced, as if worn out. "Once again, I'm dissapointed in your soft heart..." The wildcat stepped up and took Artimis under the chin, turning his head to look at him closely. "What do you see here that is worth sparring, my friend?" She didn't release the squirrel, but stared hard at the hare, her paw still, gently on Artimis's throat. Pitach stood at attention, speaking very carefully. "Captain, I-" A frantic knock sounded at the door, and the wildcat snatched her paw from the squirrel's neck, spinning angrilly on the caller. "What in the name of the North Wind is it!" "We've got a problem up on deck Cap'n.. Harrun's got some dangerous looking beast up there.." Guinn fixed Pitach with a dangerous look, pointing with a drawn claw. "We will talke tonight, right here. Bring his beast with you, as well." With that, she stalked off, sweeping out the door and following the hare.

"Soft heart, eh?" Artimis whispered gently. "I thank you for not killing me back there, I...I was really asking for it." He looked down. "Though I can't help but mentally kick myself for leaving so easily." He gulped, still feeling the wildcats claw on his throat. "My name is Artimis Brightsong, by the way, Pitach." It got quiet.

Rinn Fian watched the hare that the otter had spoken to disappear below deck then turned her gaze back to him. "Glad you finally found yer manners." Rinn commented. It was not long before she saw the hare return with a very propper looking wildcat. "Captain Guinn." Rinn nodded to the wildcat, despite not liking the look of the wildcat she still gave her the propper respect...

Pitach looked down at the squirrel with a weary smile. "Aye, I'm a softy.. wanna fight about it?" With a tired laugh, Pitach finally let his paw slide from Artimis's shoulder. His grip had grown slowly tighter as he faced the wildcat, and he appologized quietly. "Sorry, 'bout that mate.. Now, we all seem to be in the same boat.. No joke intended." With a laugh, the hare turned to the door, and held it open. "So, Artimis.. You seemed to be in a mood for conversation back on shore? Follow me to my quarters, and we can talk all you want.." ~~~~~~~~~~~ "Fair morning to you," Guinn replied primly, looking the otter head to tail. Standing, slightly bristled, the wildcat spoke in a calm and commanding tone, "May I ask what you are doing on my vessel?"

Artimis nodded. He wasn't escaping any time soon. Even if he tried, he probably would get very far until a spear or a javelin was shoved between his shoulder blades. Artimis rubbed the back of his neck tiredly and decided to cooperate. ___________________________________________________________________________
Thomas looked at the ships. One was closer to the shore than the other. Maybe Artimis was onboard that one? He pulled out his sword and ran toward the Broadwing , hoping he would find him there. He waded waist deep into the water and climbed up the anchor rope, keeping his blade between his teeth. ((I'm taking your idea, Rinn.)) He peeped over the side of the ship.

"I am Rinn Fian, ex-captain of the Windryder which was lost in these waters three autumns past. I've watched your fleet since the early morning hours when you first arrived and I boarded your ship in hopes of finding passage from this accursed shore" Rinn said with an aire of authority. She made her intentions clear, Rinn was never one to dodge around a subject. She spoke levely and clearly with no emotion in her voice since things were still in good terms. Rinn had yet to see any forms of hostility other than her rude first encounter with the otter crew member. However she was still uncertain of the group's intentions and she kept this uncertainty hidden...

Back in Cantergrove, Kayla was still thinking about Artimis. She had been infatuated with him ever since she saw him. His peircing green eyes, his muscles, his feirce gentleness that made a type of aura around him wherever he went. Now that she thought about it, she had been stupid back when she grabbed him. If she had a chance, she would start over. Hi. My name is Kayla. I believe you are Artimis. It is nice to meet you. Kayla shook her head. Thats what she would do, then. He was probably down by the shore after talking with his father about who knows what. Kayla grabbed a deerhide bag from her room and put to gourds, filled with apple cordial, in it. She silently slipped out of the window. Her parents were heavy sleepers. She smiled, anxious to see the look on Artimis' face when he saw her. They would drink the cordial, and they would talk, and they would start over on a fresh slate. And they would fall asleep in eachothers arms and... She opened the gate and started walking down the path. She frowned when she saw blood on the gate bridge, but she dissmissed it. Somebeast probably just had a little scuffle.

"I see, Rinn Fian.." Guinn said softly, stroking her whiskers flat as she thought a moment. When she finally opened her mouth to speak, she had both striped eyebrows raised candidly, her elbow resting in her paw. "I am going to be blunt with you Rinn," the cat began, "I'm not here on honest buissness. We are thieves, pirates, if you will.." She waved a paw at the crew behind her, now going abouth thier buissiness. "We are not so savage as you might think.. and I would be willing to bear you to the mainland, so long as you run no interfierence in my mission." She pulled on her jerkin front, and smoothed it with both paws. "Were you to discard my request, I would beforced to throw you back the way you came: on my achor." As Guinn looked up from her shirt, she looked suddenly serious. It was the first time the cat's pupils shrunk to pinpricks, and bore down on the otter. ~~~~~~~~~~~ Pitach lead Artimis below deck and into his small, sideroom. It was humble, but better then what the rest of the crew had to live in. The hare sat down in a tattered armchiar, letting out a huge sigh. "Sit where you want mate.. i expect Guinn will want me to follow you around all the night long, and frankly, it'd be eiser on my bones if you were kind enough to stay here.." There was a small window with a tattered tunic pipped over I, letting in thin strips of light. And across from Pitach there was a hammock, filled with heavy, warm blankets.
(Pitach, Guinn and the others are on the Cutter. Just FYI, so is Thomas boarding the Broadwing, or the Cutter?)

Wayra made his way around the ships. It didn't look like they had made camp on shore yet. Seeing the ships there were The Broadwing, and The Cutter. He Started to climb using his arrows as picks of sorts when he reached the top he saw Otters and Hares..and a wildcat. One otter stood out particularly with ripped clothes.

Rinn did not faulter under Guinn's stern gaze, looking behind the wild cat she surveyed the crew's activities. Turning Rinn took a step towards the bow of the ship. "Your threats do not scare me, Guinn. Tell me one thing though, what is your mission here. Humor me." Rinn said nonchalauntly as she looked to the shore...

(Thomas is getting on The Cutter , he doesn't know that Artimis is on the other ship. )
Artimis heaved a weary sigh and lay carefully in the hammock, rubbing his face tiredly. "So..." he began. "Tell me...why don't you leave this life of piracy? You seem too well-mannered of a beast to be following that seacats orders on this ship...you could come back with me to Cantergrove..."
