It is becoming apparent that the issue of magic has become a rampant problem and this board has gotten out of control. Apparrently during certain periods when I could not check all posts, or failed to check posts as I used to, the use of magic somehow leaked out of it's acceptable area into the older main forum. This distresses me greatly because it endangers the integraty of the older original boards resulting in a loss of cohessivness. I, personally, am not an over all fan of fancy-shmancy spell magic but I will let it fly if it's what you all want. Now I may seem like an old prude or as hesspy so lovingly put it " 'cerridwen is a b**** ' ". I may not be the greatest person on earth but I atleast try to run things by the rules that I set down with no exception to anyone no matter their creed or standing. I keep what is classified classified and a make public what should be kept public. I do not use information that was given to me in private by other members to my advantage to pick on other members that that information pertained to.

I think i'm to blame for this because my Character Stripetail wanders the world using magic. But, he does come from the Forgotten Continent and seeinf requires magic to a certain degree... i think that if the character has a oplausible backstory, like Stripetail for example, they should be allowed to use magic... but magic should imo be resticted to creatures that originally came from the Forgotten Continent or those that reside there. i agree, too much magic weakens the cohesivenesss of the stories. just mty two cents...

We'll see what the general populace vote is after about a week or so. I personally would not mind the out right ban of the use of magic...not to sure what I was thinking when I decided to permit it. I suppose it was that I was trying to let you people govern yourselves. We shal see what comes of this vote.

I think that you thought that the posters would be able to exercise self-control and not get carried away with magic use, sso you permitted it. However magic use has clearly gone overboard, and it needs to be cut back ...not banned completely but more controls put over the use of magic.. I think you should have added a fourth choice. something in between letting it go everywhere, and banning it. something like. "permitted in Forbidden Content and disrtant sEas areas' or something to that effect... Lord Stripetail

So far it looks like the compromise vote is leading...

I see that it has...and I may let you all have your way but I will be mindful of the posts and I will try to watch to magic content carefully. If it gets to be too high in the origional boards I will post warnings to tone it down a little and if those warnings are ignored I will lock the thread. I know this whole mess has earned me a good bit of smiting though being the admin is not exactly the most popular position.

No I agree. you naturally have every right to run the board, if it gets too carried away, I will, of course, try to tone it down.

I will hold you to that. Since you have accepted responsability for the blaitant use of magic getting out of control you are responsible for getting it back under control since apparently you have more sway than I do. I do not want to take administrative measures and lock down threads. You have a month to do so. At the end of September I will check threads and post warnings if any are needed.

Thaank you Cerridwen, henceforth I will refrain from using magic outside of the Forbidden Continent, and I will tell hessper and the others to tone it down as well.

I think the magicness got a bit out of hand and that in order to use magic you better have a D%&* good back story

If any supernatural stuff happens in the books and tv series and they are canon then some would have to be allowed. Maybe a list of what has happened so that could be allowed under a limited basis. I've only seen a few episodes of the tv series but it seems there is some. 1 char seems to have been a psychic, seeing the future to an extent, only nearby and could not always see the future. And Martin seemed able to talk to whatshisname in season 1, even though he had been dead for a long time.
