Slowly, as through from some mystical dream, a small greyish fox appeared out of the shifting mysts that blanketed the moores that lay between the pine forests of the north and the warmer lowlands. This was Atreyu Silverspear, a member of the mysterious D'argenteus Clan that lived high in the pines in the forest the bordered the moore. Having reached adulthood, she felt that it was time for her to see the world before returning to live with her clan for the remainder of her seasons. Atreyu carried with her only what provisions that she would need for the journey and her weapons. Namely the spear that she was known by, a spear with a silver head....

two eyes, green as emeralds, peered out at the silver shape. Two eyes...

Atreyu could feel someone watching her from the mists. She had learned to sense the presence of others because her clan was always at war with the other creatures that shared their pine forest home, the No-See-ems. Even though she could feel the gaze of another watching her, Atreyu's attention was suddenly torn away to an intreiging yet terrifying site. The mists had parted like a curtain just a little ways off to her right to reviel the hulking skeleton of a once great fortress. Its crumbling spires and walls looked like the blackened bones of an ancient leviathan...

Inside this fortress the black fox stared out. Everything would be his. Everything...Suddenly, a crashing sound alerted him of intruders. What? Then, everything went black. Atreyu heard a scream of pure terror from the castle, which suddenly quit.

The green eyes blinked for a split second as the scream split the air. She had thrown a spear at a weak spot in the crumbling structure, sending it toppling. She had known a black fox resided there, and had been plotting to wipe him from the face of the earth. Black foxes were bad luck.

Luckily for Sekar, he wasn't dead. Still, his entire body was broken and he was under half a foot of rock. He gasped, a little sound. He then croaked for help, but the rock muffled all his sounds.

A rust colored otter stood at the top of the pile. "I'll 'elp ye, if'n ye stop bein' a badbeast!" she said in a whisper.

Sekar gasped and let out a painful "Thank you" before he passed out.

As Atreyu had gazed upon the crumbling fortress in terrified wonder she heard a scream of pure terror that made her fur stand on end. Scream that reminded her all too well of the screams of the victims of the No-See-ems. Tenatively she took a couple steps forward towards the ancient monalith trying to dicern who had uttered the scream but could see nothing until just before the mists closed back in around the fortress she saw a dark form leaving the crumbling fortress with something thrown over its shoulder. With spear at the ready, Atreyu quietly darted off the path towards the retreating form. She was half the size of a red fox so it was easier for her to hide among the tall moore grasses as she shadowed the creature. Atreyu wanted to have a closer look before she did anything, get a sense of what was happening...

ooc-sekar (not too different) Sekar moaned and suddenly gained consoiusness. "The..the eyes!" he shrieked, before losing consiousness again.

Atreyu skidded to a stop for a second as she got a good look at the running creature and its burden. She realized that it was a rust coloured otter with a black fox thrown over its shoulder. Having never had dealing with otters before she was unsure how to percieve this strange new creature. Atreyu knew of the nature of squirrels, the larger foxes and their compatriates, and the No-See-ems. Going on her prior knowledge alone she chased after them because the black fox seemed to be in terror and pain, Atreyu had a soft spot in her heart for almost all foxes with the exception of the thieving reds. They always like to steal from her clan...

Rakkaem knew what Atreyu was doing. She quickly flipped over the, er, ((What's she?)))head, Sekar still on her shoulder. She pulled out Verminbane, her trusty double edged sword, and hopped into a low treebranch.

OCC: Atreyu is a grey fox. Also, there are no real trees in the moores...only scrub bushes that get only a few feet high.
Atreyu whirrled around to face the otter, spear in hand. She knew that she was at a disadvantage because of her slight size. The otter was nearly twice her size. If only we were in the pine forests she thought to herself, she knew the pine forests well and could use them to her advantage but on open land it was not the same. Standing to her full height, which was not much, she planted the butt of her spear firmly on the ground and addressed the otter. "Why is it that you torment this black fox?" Atreyu demanded sternly, motioning to the black fox over the otter's shoulder with her spear...
