Atreyu popped up from under the bushes she had scrambled under. Being a small creature she could easily fit under them with little trouble. "Aw, no. Just settling down for the evening. I'm not used to sleepin' out in the open since my clan usually live among the trees. An owl or eagle would make a light snack out of me." laughed the little grey fox...

Slightly relieved, Aife smiled and let her paw fall to her side again; claws clinking sharply on her buckler hilt. Rust gathered on the old, steel pommel like moss. The badger rubbed the cool metal absently as she replied. "Where are you from? Your clan I mean.." Aife asked this, not having good bearings inland, she knew the coast well, but was slightly lost here.

Turning to scan the northern horizon which was afire with last light's fading colours, she sought to get a bearing on which direction the pine forests laid. Motioning in their distant direction, due north, she answered Aife's question. "I have traveled from the pine forests of the north where my clan dwells. We try to keep inocent travelers safe from the No-See-'ems that plague the area. They're a horrible barbaric tribe. The name of my clan is the D'argenteus Clan, I am Atreyu Silverspear." she replied, swelling slightly with pride...

The badger looked in the direction the fox had indecated, then spoke without tearing her gaze from the spot. "Is that what you are doing with these creatures?"

Atreyu could not supress a slight chuckle at the badger's question. Yes, her clan did protect travelers in the northland forests but that was hardly the motivation for her travels. "I'm afraid not. Very few are even aware that the D'argenteus Clan even exists because we tend to keep to ourselves because of the fear of being misallied with our larger and less savory cousins, those thieving red foxes. I have chosed to leave the safety of the pine forests to venture out into the world to see what it is like beyond the protection of the forest." she mused...

"I see," the badger said, "I think we aren't that different.." She ran a paw over her striped head. "I spent so much time waiting for loved ones to come home, that I realized I hadn't lived beyond the stories my father told me.." She laughed dryly, "I've lived vicariously through him, so since he passed, I had to live for the two of us.."

"Then we shall see what the world has for us. I'm sure that by traveling with you it will save me a good bit of hassel from other larger creatures. Some of which might even want to think of me as a food item. Though that can all wait for tomarrow." Atreyu said with a slight yawn. Nodding her good night to Aife she crawled back under the bush...

Aife gave a perfuctory nod and salute, then turned and sat in the splayed roots of a nearby tree, slipping off her boots and shrugging out of her heavy cloak. As the sun went down, spilling like lucid gold over the land infront of her, the badger dug in her small pack for the little book she carried. The worn leather cover was supple under her long claws as she gentle opened it, the doggeared pages falling with dry whisper to the page she wanted. She might sleep, but then again she'd spent many nights reading back on her father's scrawled stories.

ooc: lol, it's ok. Nice to see you. ^^
bic: Aife closed her book silently, and waved a paw at the creature. "S'just a little badger maid..." She chuckled, "I struck up a conversation with Atreyu and seems I'm sticking with you beasts for a spell. Nice to meet you," she sat up tiredly and after brushing dirt from her shaggy fur, offered the otter ((? is that right)) her paw.
"I'm Aife,"

(((Yes))) Rakkaem flicked her hand out, instantly un-groggy. Nice to meet you, Aife, she said, her rust-colored fur glimmering rose in the sunset.

The badger had a firm handshake and a gentle, brazen smile. "So, how'd you come to this place?"
