"Hello. I am a wandering otter and I heard that your clan was banding together to fight the vermin horde that has appeared in these parts. Please let me in," Vasul said.

The eyes look Vasul over, "Ye wait 'ere, while I ask the Skipper." The slot is then slid shut.
Grath is speaking with his historian of the happenings last night, for she had slept through it. She sat in a chair looking at her chieftain in concern, "Tis the pups and their rescuer alright Skip?" Grath gives her a little smile, "She will be fine miss, but like my grandmum told me, 'she needs lots of rest.' " An otter enters the room and salutes to his cheiftain, "I'm sorry to intrude, Skip, but there tis a creature outside wishin' to 'elp us in fighting off the vermin." Grath gives his attention to the otter and rubs his eyes with two fingers, "Does this creature 'ave a name, Dekote?" "Aye. 'e tis named Vasul." Grath stops at the sound of the otter's name and looks at Dekote, "Who did ye say is outside?" "Vasul," Dekote says again.
OOC: Lets have Vasul and Grath know each other from a long time ago, if that is alright with you?

Ittou watches the receding figure of the otter. "what a strange person..." he shrugs and sets out, ghosting his way closer to the otter stronghold, a shadow amoung shadows...
(could someone discover me please? i'm getting a bit tired of wandering around aimlessly, after all)

A voice is heard from behind Ittou, "'old it right there." An otter holding a javelin has spoted Ittou. Pointing his javelin at Ittou, "Wot tis your business 'ere?"

Vasul is led into the Skipper's room by two guards. He drops his jaw in astonishment as soon as he sees who the Skipper is.
"Grath! How ye doin' matey?" Vasul asks, delighted to see his friend again.

"my name is Ittou K'Kage, third house from the throne..." Ittou's voice trails off as he studies the stern expression on the face of the otter. "look, friend, why don't you just take me to your emporor and we can talk this over? i have important... news... concerning the ver-main horde"
(remember, Ittou has been stalking the horde for weeks, so he has gathered quite a stock of information on their weaknesses)

Grath sits in his chair when two guards leading Vasul inside. He gets up and hugs his old friend. "Vasul, ye old riverdog! Well, it wouldn't be a good as I thought it would be old mess mate. Wot are ye doing 'ere anyways?"
The otter lowers his spear, and gives Ittou an odd look, "Sure I will take ye to 'im, but we don't 'ave an Emperor 'ere, 'e be the Skipper. Follow me." The otter shows Ittou inside to see Grath.

Ittou bows courteously before Grath and ritually unstraps his sword belt and lays his finely crafted blades before the otter chieftan. he spares vasul only a glance and turns back to Grath. "these ver-main are not... prepared for trouble at this stage of their passage through the mountains. as i suspected, the horde is too large for them to simply forage... not that there is anything for them to eat in these mountains. they have wagons of food that they trail behind them. if these were to be destroyed, the ver-main would have no choice but to turn back." Ittou leans back to take in the otter's reaction

Quicksilver Long hours had passed since Quicksilver had fought the adder, long hours of pain and suffering from both the snake's venom and memories. She had held one for as long as she could but now the pain was to unbearable, she did not want to linger any longer as she let go. She could feel herself falling into the icey darkness that acompanied death. Falling...falling...falling until she felt solid ground beneath her paws. Looking up she saw that she was home again, Quicksilver saw her mother and father along with her grandmonther waiting for her by their hut. Getting up she started towards them but they were always the same distance away no matter how far she walked. Desperated to be with her family she tried to run to them but it was no use as she fell to the ground in exhaustion. Looking up she saw her grandmother standing only a few paw lengths away.
"You can not join us yet my child, your journey is not complete. There is still much more for you to do in the world of the living." she said gently.
"I only bring sadness and death where ever I go. Besides, I am tired and want to come home." Quicksilver said wearily.
"I know my child but you must return. I lift the curse that was placed upon you at birth, now only life and happyness with flourish in yout path. You have visited the land of the dead so all darkness that you carried with you will be left here." said her grandmother as she laid her paw on Quicksilver.
Her grandmother vanished in a flash of bright light like that of a lightning stike and Quicksilver found herself catapolted back to the world of the living. Immediatly her eyes snapped open as she was awakened by a terrible coughing fit...

The elder otter stands at a table crushing ingridents with a mortar and a pestal. She hears Quicksilver coming around. "I was expectin' that ye would be comin' around soon, youn' maiden." The elder otter drops the crushed ingridents into a small kettle, stirs it for awhile, then takes a cup and fills it with the concoction. She walks over to Quicksilver and hands her the drink. "Drink this, for it will bring your strength back."
Grath ponders with the information that was given to him, while sitting in his desk chair. He then gives his response, "Good work, matey. Ye are the savior of lots of goodbeasts in the areas that their were goin' to plunder." Grath then orders one guard to send word of this information. "Please, traveller, seek our 'ospitality for the important information that ye 'ave given us." The otter chieftain then looks at the other guard, "Tell the cooks we 'ave a 'ungry traveller that needs feedin'. Dekote." Dekote salutes his chieftain, "Aye Skip" and walks out of the room escorting their visitor to the kitchens.

Quicksilver Proping herself up on one arm, she took the cup the elderly otter. The concoction tasted bitter but Quicksilver tried not to grimace. Lying back she looked at the bandages on her right arm, barely dicernable from her white fur. Would there be a lasting mark, would she still be able to wield her bow. Quicksilver felt a cold chill at the thought of never being able to use her bow again, she had come to rely on her ability to keep her safe. What would happen to her is she lost that ability because of the adder's venom. It scared her to even think about it....

Quicksilver Quicksilver looked up at the elderly otter, she had no idea what a miracle it was that she could even wield a bow or even any other weapon with accuracy. Her sight was far better than that of others like her.
"It's even a miracle that I can even wield a bow accuratly. I always worry." Quicksilver said grimly...

Ittou stomped rather testily down the corridor. dismissed like a servant so his information could be "evalu-u-ated" whatever in kerkuma's name that might mean...
he is walking towards his assigned sleeping quarters, he notices another chamber branching off from the main passage . looking within he is startled to see a silvery-white otter, sitting being treated by an elderly female of the same species for a rather nasty snakebite. that's strange, all the other otters in the clan were brown or black... he walks over to the seated silver otter, his eyes seeking silent permission from the elderly matron. he sits in silence for a while, then looks into the otter's eyes and quietly asks, "that wound, was it sustained honorably?" she nodded silent confirmation, which he aknoledged with a dip of his head before continuing, "i honor your streanth". the two warriors sit quietly for a while before Ittou continued haltingly, "where i come from , across the sea, black is considered an unlucky color for an infant. the emporor's guards demanded that i be cast to the seas, but my parents refused, instead selling me into a life amoung the Unforgiven, a group of... assasains. yes, i learned, not that i had any choice, of course, and i learned well." he looks down a moment and continueds, his voice breaking slightly. "i learned... to kill other beasts. i had to flee, however, because i incurred the emporor's wrath by refusing to eliminate a rival warlord... i came here seeking refuse, but instead find only war..." he paused, seeming slightly embarassed, and then rose from the bench. "i thank you for your time" he muttered quickly, and fled for the door. he had no idea hy he confided in the strange otter, just that she seemed like... a kindred spirit. he desprately hoped she wouldn't tell any of the other otters or he would surely be cast out.
(OOC: i REALLY apologise for the length of this post, but i do tend to go on and on at the slightest prevocation. my thanks to the hearty readers who made it all the way through)

The otter chieftain walks down the corridor towards the imfrimary to check up on Quicksilver and sees Ittou walking out of imfrimary. Grath sighs and shakes his head before Ittou notices him coming. A guard stands infront of him and yells at Ittou, "Wot are ye doin' down 'ere?" Ittou turns towards the guard and hesatates. A voice from behind Ittou says, "Its alright Kelge, 'e tis with me." Kelge looks to where the voice is coming from, "Oh I am sorry, Skip. I didn't know...." The otter chieftain smiles and signals Kelge to stop. "Its alright Kelge. I understand." Kelge walks away leaving Grath and Ittou behind.
