A small mouse, a dibbun from Redwall Abbey, had wandered for days in search of 'canded strawbrees'. The search at Redwall was still going, as the dibbun was loved much.

Abbot Fredias, an elderly abbot who was very paranoid, had sent out several search parties, but none had found a trace of the hapless dibbun.

A report from a travelling squirrel warrior had shocked poor abbot Fredias she had reported a gang of unusual vermin in the woods they leaped from tree to tree and were almost invisible. Further research made the elders think that these could be chameleons a foreign race who have only had sketchy reports from seasons back. Days passed from when the dibbun had dissapeared and everyone was worried for him

Finally, the Abbot called an emergency meeting of the elders. "We need someone to search out and fight these new enemies of ours." the Abbot said, "Or at least get the young one back, if they took him."

"Thank you, sir, but we're gonna need more than one person to battle them vermin." Fredias said sollemly, "Any other volunteers?" "Aye, mayhaps I can help." A small female brown ferret in the corner stood up. "I'm good for things besides making plum cordial, you know." Gwennias said.

"Any others?" asked the Abbot, who appeared slightly miffed. He wanted to find that dibbun, he knew him well, and he wanted someone he could actually trust on the search team.

A mouse from the abbey also volunteered and this appeared to ease the abbots aprehensions

"Excellent." the Abbot murmured, "When do you wish to set off? I personally would prefer sometime tomorrow, but anytime within the next three days would work." Gwen appeared thoughtful for a minute, then said, "If we load up the packs with vittles and such tonight, we could possibly leave at dawn. What do you think, Eugene?"

Stripetail walked through the dark forest, his staff alight so he could see ahead. He heard a voice. "Candied Strawbrees?" It was coming from his right. "That's sounds like a Dibbun." He thought. 'The dibbun is a long ways away from Redwall and its nightfall. I'll try to find him"

Stripetail held up his staff, which gave off a brilliant glow allowing him to see all around him. He saw a young figure wandering in and out of the trees. "There IS a Dibbun" he thought. He quickly ran towards the Dibbun.

"Alright, now start packing!" the Abbot cried with newfound energy. Gwen nodded and exited the room.
