Haydn galloped behind the two, one footpaw plunged through the ice with a gulping splash. With a comically high pitched yip, he leaped up and ran that much faster.

Ripfang looked at the foes,"Pitiful," He drew his halbred and sighed,"you ran away, great." He smashed his halbred against the ice, breaking it away from their foes."There cowards." He turned and took off running, dodging every hole in the ice,"Goldenpaw, run faster." He looked at Goldenpaw and gave a wolfish grin,"I'm not even trying." He passed Goldenpaw and stopped on the island shore.

the wolf put on a turn of speed, slipping as he made the last leap to the island right behind the hare. He skidded a little uppon landing, and asked, as he windmilled his arms. "What now?"

Try and find shelter" Goldenpaw replied as the ice cracked and floated away. Haydn had reached the island only just in time.

The wolf looked around the baren and dim landscape, sighting a small hill cloaked in shadows. The ground near the base of the hillock sparkled with iced brush and leafless scrub. "We might find something behind that brush over there," the wolf offered, listening to the moans of the breaking ice behind him.

The wolf struck out with more confidence then he felt at the moment, and came to the bushes. The cold, stiff scratching of the scrub snared in Haydn's thick fur as he ducked under them.

Goldenpaw followed Haydn ducking to avoid the burrs in the brush. Once he managed to crawl out of the brush he noticed a small cave. "there!" He pointed.

Haydn turned into the dark mouth of the cave, he could feel damp warmth hovering around the opening, promising a shelter from whatever was pursuing them as well as, at least for Haydn, from the ridged cold. Waving quickly to the others, he called in a hushed voice, "This way! C'mon..." He dropped to a knee and pulled himself over the icy ground and under the burrs and scrub and into the cave.

Goldenpaw followed haydn into the cave, which was somewhat warmer than the outside. "Should we build a fire?"he asked Haydn.

"I won't argue with that," Haydn muttered. His words came loud, echoing down the variable darkness of the cave. "So long as you think it's wise."

"I would go futher in the cave and make the fire, as to not attract attention." Zykoryth waited on the other's thoughts on the suggestion.

Good idea" Goldenpaw nodded. "But it 's very dark in there and the only source of light we have are the those rune thingies on Ripfang.'

Haydn moved forward slowly and carefully, feeling the ground was firm with his paw. "we could inch in a little farther, so long as we go slowly" the wolf said, "maybe enough to hide the smoke and the smell."
