Name: Kiora Ochoa
Species: Badger
Age: Young adult
Gender: Female
Coloration: Nothing out of the ordinary in terms of badgers. Kiora has black and white stripes running from her nose to her shoulders like all badgers, and there is nothing especially strange about these stripes. Her short legs are black in color and her broad, strong back the same silvery grey color as an old mouse’s beard. Kiora has strange, pale, light blue eyes that are almost always sparkling cheerfully.
Clothing: Kiora wears a simple, flaming red tunic, and when the weather’s bad she can be seen wrapping a maroon cape around herself. She almost always goes barefoot, and has tough paw pads due to this. Kiora has a dark brown leather strap across her back and chest, and a black sheath is attached to the back of this strap. Kiora keeps a 51-inch hand-and-a-half sword in this sheath.
Personality: Kiora is assertive, pioneering, enthusiastic, adventurous and humorous. She has an unusal zest for life, always ready for the next curveball thrown her way or bumb in the road of life. Kiora is innocent and slightly naïve, and extremely disarming with her quick, child-like smile and faithful stare. If she considers someone a friend, she’ll be extremely loyal to them. Almost to a fault.
Kiora is fast-paced, energetic, passionate, sociable, and a good communicator. She has an undeniable thirst for competetion, and often challenges her friends to a friendly fight. Kiora is not the slightest bit hesitant when it comes to voicing her opinions, thoughts and emotions. She loves spending time with friends and comrades, and due to her cheerful, likable personality, she has quite a few.
Kiora is brave, action-oriented, individualistic, independent and impulsive. She does not think about the danger involved and jumps headlong into things that look fun or appealing to her, and due to this attitude is often seen as amazingly brave. Kiora can take care of herself and she knows it, and is a little arrogant because of this trait. She hates sitting still, and is almost always moving.
Kiora is competitive, eager, straightforward, forceful and headstrong. She has a tendancy to try and ram things down other’s throats, but this is only because she truly believes she knows best and is oblivious to any other ideas. Kiora has an intense stubborn streak, and refuses to budge an inch when others disagree with her. Don’t take it personally. Try to think of her as a very small, very young Dibbun unable to see the discomfort she causes.
Kiora is intemperate, violent, impatient, fiery, rash, extreme, arrogant, impulsive, intolerant, insensitive, and tends to bully out of selfishness. She has a hard time seeing the other person’s point of view. Thankfully her brothers’s teachings have helped her with this greatly, but not completely. Kiora lashes out at others when angered, but she honestly doesn’t mean anything she says or does.
History: It was in her infancy that Kiora became orphaned. Her parents were two traveling badger’s named Jafaru and Kylie, and she is the firstborn in a set of twins. Her brother is named, very simply, Ja. The two were born inside the couple’s homely little cabin somewhere on the fringe of the Mossflower woods during a tumultuous rainstorm. Due to this, their parents always had a feeling there was something strange about them.
Kiora’s home, where her peaceful parents lived happily, was attacked by a band of evil raiders headed by a ferret named Phomello when she and Ja were about two years old. Her parents were not warriors, and were quickly and easily slain while trying to flee with their children. Phomello spared the youngsters, still clutched in their parent’s cold, dead but protective claws, and left them to die.
Kiora and Ja were fighters, even as little ones, however, and with the help of a few kind hares grew up planning vengeance. They were young when it happened, but they remember bits and pieces of the incident. Of course, the fact that the hares did not tell them any lies when they eventually asked what happened to their parents did not help calm them much. Eventually they could take care of themselves, and bid their hare ‘parents’ farewell.
They became strong, and taught each other important lessons. From Ja, Kiora learned to cooperate, share and bring others together in harmony. Thus, she learned to express her ideas actively but tactfully and, in so doing, found much needed balance. It tamed her a little, but not by much, and she remains just as wild and careless as ever. The two siblings taught each other to fight, readying themselves for the final battle.
After several seasons of this self-training, they set off and began to hunt through the countryside, hoping that one day they would catch up with Phomello, and finally pay the ferret back for the harm done to their family. They have had a tough upbringing, and are determined to make the beast that is responsible sorry for what he did to them, their parents, their home…their lives.
