Lord Stripetail replied." Yes, the vermin have a tendency to pick some terrible names. Picking a famous warrior would be good, Fox Glove, but I have an issue with Sunstripe and Martin. First, Lord Sunstripe, or Sunflash as he called himself for much of his life, had a large yellow stripe on his head. Much as I was named for the stripe on my tail, he was named for the stripe on his head. This weaselbabe has no such stripe. Now Martin. Martin was named after his grandfather, who was also named Martin. Martin was probably the greatest warrior in history, only Lord Brocktree compares in legacy to him. I think that being named after such a legendary figure places a burden on that creature to somehow live up to thier namesake's legacy, which is unfair, especially in Martin's case. Do you have any other names?" Lord Stripetail

"Hmmm..." Fox Glove thought for a moment. "Well, how about Dandin? I've heard some lovely stories about him."

" You mean the ally and friend of Mariel? He was a direct descendant of Gonff, Prince of Mousethieves, who also happened to be best friends with Martin the Warrior. A good name. How about Brome? The son of Urran Voh and Aryah, and the younger brother of Laterose, he later succeeded his father and became the chieftain of Noonvale. He was renowned as a healer." Lord Stripetail

"That's a wonderful name! I actually haven't heard of any of those beasts but I think that'll fit nicely." She looked over at the little weasel babe who was still sleeping soundly, "yes I think that will work nicely. Well...now that we're all fed what's our next course of action? Plan a way to stop those vermin?"

"That will have to wait until tommorow, Fox Glove. For now, tell me a little about yourself. From what I can tell, and I'm just guessing here, you were born at sea, and you lost your parents in a shipwreck. You survived the shipwreck, and landed on an island. You were raised by the natives until you were old enough to live on your own. I may be wrong, if I am, please forgive me. Once you are finished, I will tell you a little about myself. For now, collect your thoughts while I put Rosey, Snowy and Brome to bed, Come with me Rosey." Lord Stripetail took Brome from Rosey and went up the stairs, Rosey, carrying Snowy, following behind. "Thank you for dinner my Lord, I had not eaten anything all day. Where are you taking us?' You're welcome my dear. I imagine you are tired and need rest. I have a room for you." Reaching the top of the stairs , he turned right of the pantry and walked towards 3 small rooms on the far end of the landing. He opened the middle door, and ushered Rosey in."Lictus" he called out, and his staff emitted a bright light, which filled the room. In the corner was a comfortable-looking bed, which sat next to a small window cut into the tree. Across from the bed lay a small cradle." That is for Snowy and Brome." he said. He lay Brome down into the cradle and covered him with a blanket. Brome opened his eyes and began to cry. Lord Stripetail patted him on his head and Brome stopped crying. "Hush , little one, and don't cry. You are safe here." Rosey put Snowy down next to Brome, and covered him with the blanket. The she turned towards Lord Stripetail. " Good night my lord." "Good night Rosey. Sleep well." He turned towards the door, and Rosey got into bed.He called out" Lantus" and his staff went dark. He closed the door and went downstairs, where he found Fox Glove deep in thought. "Rosey and the little ones are in bed. So you and I have the night to ourselves. You may begin." Lord Stripetail

Fox Glove shifted in her chair a bit, making herself more comfortable. "Well, you're pretty much correct. I really don't know anything about my parents. I was born at sea and unfortunately later that night due to a storm and...well who know what other factors might have contributed...but the ship sank. I was rescued by one of the crew members, a sea otter by the name of Kelp. The two of us and a few of the other crew members where luckey enough to make it to a near by island. There was a commuity of beasts living there and they basically raised me. We had to travel a lot because the island was very small and we needed to import a lot of our supplies, pluss we left at certain times a year to trade good with the mainland. It was a nice place to live, vermin attacked us a few times but we managed to fight them off. Eventually when I was old enough I decided to strike off on my own and make a life for myself, you know see the world. I was given this sword as a parting gift and I've been on the road ever since."

"That's a very interesting story Fox Glove. Now I will tell you about myself. I was born in a place called Aeristica, which is on the other side of the Sea. There was an abbey there called Sowarkard, and I was raised there. The abbey was very large and there were many beautiful things there. The creatures were every creature you could think of: eagles, foxes, stoats, badgers, mice, otters, weasels, you name it. Many of them were noble creatures, carrying the title of Lord or Sir or Lady. All were good creatures, unlike here. Each student was trained in magic and given a staff. Not to be immodest, but I became the most powerful of all the students there. I was granted the title of Lord in my first year, even through I was originally a regular squirrel. The abbey was attacked when I was in my last year . We managed to repulse the attack, but lost many of the students and elders, including a squirrelmaiden named Snowpaw, who was very dear to me. After that, well, I left the abbey. I sailed across the Sea and reached these lands." He paused , and looked his staff. " This staff allows me to do many things, from making dinner to protecting myself to even summoning the ghosts of the dead. Would you like me to summon someone?" Lord Stripetail

Fox Glove was shocked. She had never imagined that she would be faced with an opportunity to talk with the dead. On one paw, she was intrigued by the idea, and the possiblity of meeting parents she never new...on the other paw magic was...dangerous. "Well..." she said, "I've always wanted to meet my parents...but...I'm afraid I don't even know their names."

Lord Stripetail smiled." That's all right. It doesn't matter whether you know thier names or not. All I have to do is say" Parents of Fox Glove , come to me" and they'll come. I must tell you that what I'm doing is very dangerous, we spent months learning how to do it correctly in school. So, Don't try to do it yourself, Fox Glove. If you do it wrong, which is very likely if you're untrained, there's no telling who you might awaken.Do you still wish to do this?" Lord Stripetail

The young mouse thought hard for a couple moments. She had know idea what she would say to them...what they would be like. Her curiosity was too strong though and she nodded," yes...I think so. As long as you're sure you can do it safely."

"I'm sure I can do it safely, Fox Glove. As a matter of fact, I performed this spell only recently, so I'm not rusty. Well, here we go." Lord Stripetail got up out of his chair and raised his staff. "Spiritus Summonus!Parents of Fox Glove, Come to me!" He bellowed. His staff flashed brilliantly, emitting a powerful light that filled every corner of the roombut only for a moment. The light went out and so did the candle on the table, leaving the room in utter darknesss. Minutes later, two ghostly figures floated through the door. They stopped before Lord Stripetail and Fox Glove. Lord Stripetail gestured to them. "Your parents, Fox Glove." He said with a smile. Lord Stripetail

Fox Glove's jaw dropped, there in front of her where her parents. She approached them cautiously, careful not to get too close...she realized it was much colder near them. "Mom...Dad?" she looked from one to the other. Her father was a tall thin mouse with light brown fur and green eyes. He also had a thick mustache of whiskers and a kind smile. Her mother had a light goldenish fur and blue eyes. She actulally resembled Fox Glove quite a bit. "Erm...I don't know anything about you guys...what happened...I mean..." her voice trailed off. "It's just as you where told...we were shipwrecked and...well...we didn't survive. We're so sorry...but you've grown into such a lovely young mouse..." her mother said, her foice was almost musical, like the chirping of birds. "Well...what she was told isn't exactly correct," her father interupted...we where shipwrecked in as storm...but we never would have if our boat hadn't been sabatoged. We suspect that when we put our ship into port...somewhere about fifty miles or so past where Salamandastron is...that someone sabatoged it while we where getting supplies." "If I ever find out who did this horrible thing...I will get revenge for the both of you!" Fox Glove said, almost in a rage. "NO...violence isn't the answer...you aught to settle down and live a nice peacefull life...really," her mother said. Fox Glove hung her head...she didn't know what else to say. She would not allow those responisble for her parents death to go unpunished.

"Madam, I don't think that will be likely. Fox Glove is not a creature who will let a deed like this go unpunished. So you believe this happened close to Salmandastron? I doubt it.That area is under constant survailence by the Long Patrol, since it is so close to Samandastron. I tend to believe that this sabotage happened elsewhere. Where did your ship go down?" Lord Stripetail asked. Lord Stripetail

The ghost of Fox Glove's mother looked over at Lord Stripetail. "Well...we're not exactly sure where it went down. The ship was blown off course by the storm. It was heading for mossflower. We went through a lot of sea ports on our trip...there didn't appear to be vermin in any of them...but you know how they are."

Lord Stripetail nodded. "Yes, I know their ways only too well. So you were headed towards Mossflower? That is where Redwall Abbey is located. My guess is that you went down somewhere in between Tampertra , and an island called Restirun, which is a good ways from Mossflower. Where was the last port you visited before you went down? Also, we would like to know your names." Lord Stripetail
