Fox Glove woke when she heard Stripe's door open and then close. She had never been a light sleeper until her adventures away from home. The young mouse wiped the sleep from her went down stairs. She found Lord Stripetail searching through piles of scrolls intently. He appeared to be looking for something important. "What are you ahhhh!" she yelped as she sliped on an old peice of paper the squirl seemed to have dropped. "Ouch...is this what you're looking for?" she muttered as she got up and handed him the paper.

Lord Stripetail looked at Fox Glove." Good Morning, my young friend. What is that in your paw?" He reached for the paper. His eyes gleamed as he looked at it. " Yes, this is it. Here's that map of the moles hideaway. Let's see, there are tunnels leading from the village to the west, north and south. " He pointed at each direction. He looked back at Fox Glove. " Thank you. Would you kindly wake up the others? I'll get some breakfast going for us and we can be off. " Lord Stripetail

Samkin woke late the next day. He found everyone else already eating breakfast. He turned to Stripe and asked for some green sap milk.

Handing Samkin the milk, Lord Stripetail finished putting food into knapsacks. " There is one for each of us, the smallest one is for Rosey." Rosey was busy feeding Snowy and Brome, and her shirt was covered in oatmeal. He turned to her." We're heading out as soon as the Dibbuns are finished eating.' Lord Stripetail

"Excelent!" Fox Glove exclaimed through a mouth full of breakfast. "We'll teach those vermin a lesson sure enough!" She quickly wolfed down the rest of her food and waited impatiently for Rosey to finish.

The Dibbuns finished eating and Rosey handed Brome to Lord Stripetail. " We're off!" Switching Brome to his left paw, he set down his staff, and grabbed a knapsack. He then slipped Brome into the knapsack, careful to leave an large enough opening for him to stick his head out. He then slipped the knapsack on and picked up his staff. He then opened the door and let Samkin, Fox Glove and Rosey out. Rosey had placed Snowy inside the knapsack, just like he had done with Brome. Snowy had stuck his head out of the knapsack, his eyes glinted as he turned to look around. Lord Stripetail closed the door behind him, and the small group set off. Lord Stripetail

Not ten paces into their journey Samkin realised he had left his sword and his armor in the house and came out. He nodded to Stripe, and they continued on. They stopped at a small stream to sleep. They had gone quite slow with Rosey with them. Samkin knelt to get a drink of water. After his drink he lied down and took a nap. In his sleep he saw Martin the Warrior. Martin stood clad in armor with his sword by his side. He did nothing but nod until out of the blew Martin roared "NOW!". Samkin awoke with a start. Everyone was asleep including Foxglove who had taken first watch. she turned towards him and he jumped up with a start sword in hand. A vermin foraging party was all around them. After a quick glance he noticed there were seven and they weren't heavily armed. They all had daggers. His war cry pierced the quiet air like a knife through hot butter "Redwaaaaaaaall". He rushed the nearest one and ran his sword straight through his stomach.

OOC: No. It's fine. BIC: Lord Stripetail woke with a start. He saw Samkin figkting with a small group of vermin. He rose to his feet and pointed his staff at them "Igpri Imflanire!" A blast of light shot into the group, and four of them were engulfed in flames. Loud shreiks of pain filled the air, and awoke the others. Lord Stripetail leaped into the air, his staff ablaze with light. Samkin had his sword out and was fending off some of the vermin. Lord Stripetail quickly reached Samkin, his eyes ablaze with fury. He looked around and saw that they had slain all seven, four were dead from burn, Samkin had slain the others. His anger quickly subsided."Good work Samkin. That must be Martin's sword, there are few other weapons that could slay a beast as quickly as you did. May I look at it?" Lord Stripetail

You may have a look at it it, but be careful it is made from metal that fell from the stars. It is not only a weapon it is also a symbol of peace and freedom. Samkin handed the sword too Stripe and looked over at Rosey. "We should go a bit further for the younguns sake."

Fox Glove awoke when Lord Stripetail had blasted the vermin. She lept to her feet and quickly drew her sword but by then it didn't matter, they had all been killed. "I'm sorry...I...I can't believe I fell asleep," she stammered, feeling bad because of her careless mistake. She walked over to Rosey who looked a little bit shaken by the whole ordeal and tried to comfort her while Stripe examined Samkin's sword. "It's alright," she said, "we where bound to run into vermin sooner or later...the whole place is crawling with them unfortunately."

Leaving Stripe to examine the sword he walked over to Foxglove. "Don't worry I've fallen asleep on watch quite a few times myself, there is no need to go kicking yourself over it."Then looking over at Stripe he said "You can examine it on the way we should leave before more come to investigate."

Lord Stripetail nodded. " The village that the vermin attacked should be close by. We can stop there." As they walked he examined the sword, and muttering to himself," An extraordinary sword. This sword has all the marking of a sword made by Boar the Fighter, the Badger Lords are legendary for thier weaponmaking, and this is proof." He felt the hilt of the sword. " This part appears to be older than the blade, let's see now, this came from the original sword that Luke gave to Martin, and which had been passed down from Martin, Luke's father and Martin's namesake. The sword was taken from Martin by Badrang." When he spoke Badrang's name, Stripetail felt the fur on his neck stand up. He smiled. "Martin the Warrior." He turned around, and indeed, there was the great warrior himself, clad in armor. Martin spoke," You know a great deal about my sword and its history. How do you know all this?"" I have read a great deal in my travels Martin. It is a honor to meet a great warrior like yourself. It has been a long time since you were this far north." The ghost nodded. " It has been a long time indeed. I am honored to meet you as well, Lord Stripetail. Since you know about Badrang, then you know about the battle of Marshank?" " Indeed I do. I'm surprised you mentioned that battle, considering the outcome for you. You recovered your sword and slew Badrang, but not before he dealt you a blow that you spent the rest of your life trying to recover from. Indeed, the blow was such that afterwards you never mentioned the battle, or your childhood. You claimed after your battle with Tsarmina that the injuries she had given you resulted in the loss of your memories. Which, if that were true, would have been a gift from the fates. Of course, your friends gave you the benefit of the doubt, and didn't question you further. I ,however, would have pressed you to remember." The smile on Martin's face faded. " I believe, Martin, that if someone had pushed you to remember your past, that you could have remembered at least some of it. Of course, you didn't have much of a childhood, and Rose..." Martin roared. " DON"T SAY HER NAME!" He was clearly angry, but Stripetail paid no heed." And why should I not say her name? Every creature deserved to be remembered, Martin, she is no different. I could list some of the things I know about her, but you clearly wouldn't like that. Clearly, she is the reason why you don't mention your past, her death is that blow you spent your life recovering from." Martin's eyes were glowing with light, he was shaking, Stripetail guessed, with rage. " What would she say to you if she saw you like this? When you led the attack against Marshank, you were in a rage much like you are now. I can imagine seeing you in such a state terrified her, instead of the friendly, caring mouse she had come to love so much, you had become this frightening creature that she didn't know at all." At this words, Martin fell silent. Stripetail continued. "We have a lot in common, you and I. Both of us lost loved ones in battle. Both of us have had to live with our loss. But you have repressed your memories, which is unwise, since they have ways of coming out when you least expect it.I have come to grips with the loss of my beloved, you have not. After a short while, Martin spoke." You could never understand what she meant to me." He sighed heavily." I have never spoken of her, you are correct. Whether or not I could have remembered her, if I was forced to try to remember, I don't know." His voice became a whisper."My Lord, she was the love of my life, and I couldn't replace her. That's why I didn't find a mate afterwards, and besides if I tried to find someone, my past would eventually come out, and I was unwilling to endure recalling such painful memories. That's why I made up the story of leaving the caves after my father had left." Stripetail nodded. " I know. Was she the one who prevented you from entering the Dark Forest after your battle with Tsarmina?" Martin's eyes grew wide with shock. " I guess she was. But that's enough for now. You may go Martin, I will be giving your sword back to Samkin. He has a great future ahead of him. It has been a pleasure talking with you, please forgive me for breaching such painful topics." Martin smiled weakly." No, I bear nothing against you, my Lord. The legends about you are true, that you can tell a creature thier entire past at your first meeting. I had dismissed that as nonsense, that Gonff was pulling my leg. Farewell, My Lord, we will meet again soon." He vanished, and Lord Stripetail turned back. In the dustance he saw the small figures of Samkin and Fox Glove. He hurried to catch up, and once he had, He returned the sword to Samkin, saying" There is no chance of me or anyone else breaking this sword, it is truly unbreakable. such a sword is extremely rare, anbd a testament to the skill of its maker, Boar the Fighter. Here it is back." Lord Stripetail

" We discussed the history of his sword,Samkin. The sword you hold now was forged by Boar the Fighter, and you have no need to worry about it breaking, he made it so that nothing could ever break it. It is indeed a symbol of peace, but it is a terrible weapon as well. It has been in the possession of vermin, and innocent lives have been sacrificed to reclaim it. From talking about his sword, we went into a discussion of his past. To be honest Samkin, I was not expecting that. Martin was not a mouse who chatted needlessly, and his past was not a pleasant one. Apart from not having much of a childhood, Martin lost every creature that ever loved him. No wonder he never spoke of his past to his friends at Redwall. Needless to say, our discussion got pretty heated when certain events were brought up. He also said that you have a great future ahead of you Samkin.' He pointed. " There's the village. Fox Glove and Rosey are waiting for us." Lord Stripetail
