Taint lowered his sword a bit, but still kept it in his grip, keeping the tiny otterbabe behind him. "I'm looking for somebeast. A ghostly beast, to be exact."

Gold Seam let the mojority of his body fall back to the ground, with a thump akin to a cut rope. "I may be able to help you with find this beast," the snake started to turn away, but took a shap double take, "it may be easier for us all if you dropped your guard a small amount.." His words were punctuated with a flick of his pink and black tongue.

Taint looked confused. "If...drop my..." He shrugged sheathed his sword, looking at the otterbabe on his shoulder. "This snake seems to know what he's talking about, little mate..."

Gold Seam's unblinking eyes flashed over the otter cub. "Is this beast your kin?"

Taint looked at the tiny otter. "No, he was...he came out of that bush, says he has no parents. I thought I might take him with me. "

"I don't think he'll eat us, mate." Taint relaxed a little, but he still didn't fully trust the snake. "Don't worry. I won't let 'im eat you. Even if he tries."

Gold Seam, uttered a bemused laugh. "I would be a proud snake if i could eat something so huge.." He looked Taint from head to tail; he was half teh size of teh large otter, only slightly larger then the young one. "Now then, if you want me to help you at all, you'll have to tell me who you are, and who you are looking for..."

Taint spoke proudly. "I am Taint Stirling, son of Streamseeker. I came here to seek revenge...and solve a mystery. And then I am off to a place called Redwall." Taint looked at the snake, who seemed strong and wise for his size. "When I was young, a horde of hooded figures attacked my home. I heard they might be here...have you seen any ghostly figures? Ones in long black cloaks?"

The otterbabe shuddered atop Taint's shoulders. " i..I seen dem!" he whispered fearfully, remembering how he had narrowly avoided detection.

((Whats your idea?))
Taint looked at the otterbabe seriously. "Listen, Taggle. Tell me. Where have you seen these beasts?" Thunder roared in the distance and drops of rain started to fall. Taint shivered.

** that.** Taggle started to play with the hilt of what was to him, a humongus broadsword, as he confessed. " Dat way" he said ominously, as if not wanting to go there. The otterbabe's finger pointed north-westish.

((Ah.))
Taint nodded and looked at the snake, then at Taggle. "Well...by the way, little mate, my name is Taint Stirling." He said, trying to keep the little ones mind off of the hooded beasts. "We should get in a shelter of some kind. The closest shelter is the ruins, and it may be scary but...its all we have right now." He said, wiping rain water away from his eyes with his paw.

The otterbabe looked undecided a moment, then finally said, "otay. My name be's Taggle Streamstar." he said proudly, one of the few parts of his past he could remember.

"Hm...Streamstar..." That name sounded oddly familiar to him for some reason. Taint shook the thought out of his head. "Well, snake? Should we go into the ruins? You know about this place, not me." He was dripping wet, cold, and hungry. And he couldn't leave Taggle out here in the rain.
