"Yes. I want to build some seige equipment to launch at yon vermin." he said, he was looking all around at the resources Redwall had to offer.

Thinking back to when he was younger, Xylon remembered the seiges of Redwall. "What, you mean like a ballista?"

Using haste, Saroyyo used the advice of his fellow wolf and slipped into the abby walls, bolting the wicker gate shut.

"Yes, and perhaps a catapult, to launch bigger rocks with." Meerak began lining out plans to build the awsome war machines.

"Well, that's good, because a ballista is about the only machine I know how to build. Learned from a mouse, many seasons ago...I'll need timber, rocks, flammable material and rope."

"We'll probably need the cooks, the cellar hog, and the moles for all that, I'll go get them." Meerak said.

After asking Skipper to get a few of his otters down to the grounds too, Xylon descended the steps quickly, and upon finding a clear spot in the grounds, just far enough from the wall for projectiles to go over, he began searching his brain for the way to build a ballista.

Meerak led a group of creatures carrying the parts of the ballista to Xylon on the grounds. He began searching his brain for other machines that have a longer range.

Xylon gave instructions to the beasts as he surveyed the work. "Make a rectangle of wood of the ground; moles, start carving a bowl shape out of timber. Otters, get the thickest piece of wood and tie the rope on studs on the side, good. Now put two more pieces of wood on the ropes. Moles, connect the bowl-shaped piece with that thick piece, okay...everyone else, help them to lift and attach that to the rectangle, careful, careful, good." Turning back to Meerak, he bowed. "There ya' go, a ballista, quick as ya' like. I think you know how to use the rest..." he said, glancing at the rocks and flammable material.

"Yes, as a matter of fact, I do. Right, load that rock in there, careful, now lower it gently. There. Pull that lever and give'm rock soup." Four of you stay there, the rest of you come with me, we're gonna build a trebuche." Meerak said with delight.

Saroyyo shook his head at the crude but effective contraption, but settled to work with his longbow instead. He also snorted ar the thought of a trebuchet. What was there to throw with such a machine?
OOC: where is Taggle? he hasn't posted in a while.

OOC: Taggle was thrown with the ballista.
Xylon and two otters stood by the wooden ballista, listening to the screams of vermin. One otter lifted a stack of hay into the bowl while the other set fire to it, and the wolf pulled the lever. Behemoths of fire soared through the air, death on the wind to all not protected by the abbey's walls.
