Tibbarius Rythe walked slowly through the deep snow. His silver sword sheathed at his back had icicles growing off the hilt. He was shivering uncontrollably as he fought on toward his destination. Though it was hard going he was determined to make it. His foot got caught up in a willow root stretching out above ground. Tibbarius fell flat on his face giving him a mask of white fluffy snow. He shook his head causing some of the snow to fly off in all directions. He cleared the rest off with his paw before continuing. The warrior mouse started up a steep hill. His strength was fading quickly as he made his way to the top. Just when he thought he would never make it, Tibbarius saw a sight that took his breath away. The red stone walls that he had been longing to see for a season. The glorious sight of Redwall Abbey.

Taryn sighed and leaned his head back onto the trunk of the oak tree, his body relaxing on the high branch that towered just above the legendary Redwall gates. The abbey was old, that was certain, but it stood tall and proud against the sharp icy wind that whipped through the branches of the oak tree and through Taryn's fur, but he didn't shiver, despite the cold. Instead, he just pulled his cloak tighter around his shoulders, reluctant to actually enter the glorious red abbey at all. To his left, a soft thud disrupted the song of the chilling winds, and Taryn glanced cautiously toward the source of the noise. A mouse, shivering quite visibly, had fallen to his face in the thick snow. It was times like these, Taryn mused as he smiled a bit, that it was good to be a squirrel. The thought of aiding the mouse fluttered across Denburoughs mind, and he was preparing to jump lithely from the oak tree branch until the mouse stood, a determined look upon his face. Taryn smirked and turned his attention back to the Abbey, plucking a piece of bark from the tree.

"I made it." The warrior mouse said to himself. He was relieved to see such a grand sight. It had been a couple season since he had seen the stone walls. They were as radiant as ever. The mouse's ear twitched slightly. He smiled, almost laughing at himself. How did he not notice the nearby presence before. "Just out of curiosity, how long have you been there?" The Tibbarius did not know exactly where this other beast was. He was unable to pin point the exact location but he knew there was somewhere close by.

Denburough raised an eyebrow, vaguely impressed. "Far longer than you have, mouse." Taryn glanced down absently, pondering if the beast had pinpointed his exact location or not, but by the appearance of it, the mouse was in an ongoing process of confirming Denburoughs position.

Tibbarius's ears twitched as the voice rang out from in the up trees. He still didn't know where exactly the other creature was. However he did know one thing. There was only one kind of beast who was rather comfortable in the trees. Especially one with the skills to climb a tree while there is snow and ice. "Do squirrels have nothing better to do then hang around in the trees on such a chilly morning?"

(Old Redstripe) "Wow! Itsa cold morning out today." Redstripe stood outside the abby gates,"Can't beleive I fell asleep out here, curse my old age." He shook himself down and thanked the heavens he had thickfur or he would of froze. He was stretching when he saw a mouse talking to...the trees?"Must be a squirrel in there sumwheres." He sighed and leaned against the gate.

Tibbarius looked over to see another beast. A badger, long time since he had seen one. Since he had last been to Salamandastron. "Quite chilly out here isn't it?" He said ignoring the conversation with the one hiding in the trees. He walked up the the badger.

"Aye, an I sleeped under a snow drift. Been a while since Redwall graced the eyes of Redstripe." He looked at the walls,"Oh right, my names Redstripe the Strong."

"Pleased to meet you Redstripe. My name is Tibbarius Rythe, Though most just call me Tibb." The mouse spoke as he walked up to the stone walls. He placed his hand on the wall. He ran his finger tips along a crack. "It's been a while." He said absently to himself.

"I was returning from across the sea, I went to help some old friends out in a war. I left nearly three or so years ago. Just now coming back. The war is done and over, we won and the kingdom started to prosper again. I brought back some trinkets and such for the beasts here." He pulled out some jewlstudded gold bracelets, rings, and necklaces."these are just a few, got a bag full of em." He then smiled,"I made it to the gate and old age caught up and I fell asleep fore I could even knock."

"Your story is not all that different from mine." Tibb said as he waited for the gate to open. "I traveled across the see to free my home land from an evil Tyrant. As soon as I knew they had good warriors to protect them I decided to return to Redwall. " He was shivering less now that his mind was far from the cold. "Hello up there." Tibb yelled as he saw a figure moving along the ramparts. "Could you let a couple frozen beats in?" A spiky head poke out to look down at the two. A hedgehog by the looks of him. Taller then most he had seen and muscular. The hedgehog stared at them for a moment. He was a Redwaller by the name of Tak. He was not much younger then Tibbarius.
"Well depends. Do I know these poor beasts? Ye look fairly familiar and the badger... Redstripe? So it was you that was making all that racket but a minute ago. Ye almost woke half the Abbey with all that noise."

"Tak? Well lookit you lad, you got big, in the arms." He laughed,"Had to move the kegs for your father eh? Hows he doing?"
An otter popped up beside Tak,"Well lookit that bedraggled ole stripe dog! Redstripe me mate its been ages since ya left!" Hitchaw hopped down from the wall landing with the grace of a squirrel."Me and the holt came here for the winter, river froze solid. Can't catch any wee little fish, nor the bigguns eitha." He patted Redstripe, his muscles bulging as he tried to move Redstripe with the pats.
"Yer doing it wrong mate." He hit Hitchaw in the back once and knocked the otter into the snow,"Not enough swing in your pats." He laughed as he helped him up.

Tak watched as Hitchaw jumped down. "Show off." He remarked mockingly. The hedgehog made his way down the steps. He walked up to the door and removed the bar that held the door firmly locked. He opened the door. "Dad is doing fine by the way. He has been busy in the cellar with all these otters drinking the days away." Tak let out a jolly laugh.
Tibbarius looked at the three catching up. He always enjoyed the good humor that the redwallers possessed. The mouse breathed in the crisp morning air. Only to catch the scent of another thing he loved about redwalll. They had the greatest cooks he had ever known. "Smells like we are just in time for breakfast."
