Flapping slowly, with his wings at a cramped angle, Gyre wove through the trees fast. He could see the form of Garth sillhouetted against the ebbing firelight. Pushing forward in the ashy wind, the small dragon's over exteded wingtips brushed against treetrunks. he made a hasty turn, his paws hitting the ground as he broke a few feathers as his wing clipped a tree.
He landed on skidding feet beside Garth, flicking his wings closed. "Beast, whoever you are, what are you doing?" Gyre's long muzzle was striped with black ash from his close escape. "You'll be killed if you leave the forest."

Kerrek-Kaa halted in all of his movements. There was someone close to him. He was fairly sure of that now. He turned his head, and located two figures standing between the fires and ashes. The dragon sneered, turned and slowly but steadily, approached them.

Garth looked back at the one who had addressed him. Silently he studied the small dragon, he knew that it only meant well. "I am Garth Deepwater, husband of Astrild who waits for me on the other side. I fear not death, someone must do something." Garth said quietly with bow in hand and his axe hanging from his belt...

Glancing in growing fear from the otter before him to the approching dragon, Gyre shook his head. "It isn't needing to be this way. If you want to fight, I will help you.. but there is no need to be reckless." He crouched down, offering a seat behind his half spred wings.

Nymon looked at the two new figures. "so i'm not alone" he thought" The figures were in serious trouble, but he did not dare call out to them, that would only alert the the dragon to his whereabouts and that would be it for him, and them. He prayed to the fates that the dragon would not see them...

The dragon growled threatingly. He couldn't understand, why another dragon would demean himself by allowing one of... THEM to actually ride on his back. Kerrek-Kaa shook his head. No matter. He would burn them all to ash. He roared his challenge at his new opponents, and let go of a powerful stream of devastating fire.

Gyre leapt into the air so fast, he was unsure if the otter had managed to get on, either way there wasn't a second to waste. Once he appeared above the trees, he unfolded his wings and soared high, wheeling in oblong circles.
The light of the fire below cast eerie colors on the underside of Gyre's wings and on his face as he glance back to see if Garth was on his back or not.

Despite the fact that Garth had been unable to climb onto Gyre's back he had managed to dive out of the way of the dragon's fire. Although he had managed to avoid being burnt to a crisp he could still feel the heat from the fire curl his fur. Getting to his feet, Garth stood and placed an arrow to his bowstring. With bow bent he called out to the dragon. "Is that the best you can do!" Garth shouted as he loosed his arrow at the black dragon.

The arrow hit the dragon, piercing the armour like scales and impaling itself deeply into the dragon's neck. Blood spurted from the wound and Kerrek-Kaa roared in pain and anger. His yellow eyes, filled with anger, malice and hate looked onto the otter and with a vicious snarl the dragon charged him, maw wide open to swallow the otter with one single bite.

Garth stood unmoving as the dragon charged him. He felt almost no fear at the sight of the terrible fate that loomed before him, there was only a slight twinge of self preservation. Calmly he set another arrow to his bow and aimed for the dragon, he had nothing to lose. Waiting until nearly the last minute he loosed his arrow then stepped to the side of the dragon...

The dragon roared again, first in surprise, then in anger and pain. The arrow pierced through the strong scales of his neck and embedded into his throat. For a short moment, the dragon lost his balance and fell, landing face first in dirt and ash. Kerrek-Kaa was... shocked to say the least. Not only did that otter fight back, but he also managed to hurt him. A lot. Even within a short duration of time. The arrows which pierced both his neck and throat were not mortal due to the natural protection of his scaly hide, but they still hurt. Actually, the wounds, especially the one in his throat, caused him great agony. He refused however to simply give up. He wouldn't allow a weak, pathethic otter to beat him just like that. Kerrek-Kaa got up, turned around and faced the otter once more. He stood somewhat shakingly, but the anger and hatred burning in his eyes showed no signs of weakness.

Nymon saw the wounded dragon fall to the ground, and he felt courage well up inside him. He drew his blade and charged out of hiding. He lept onto the dragon's back and put his blade to Kerrek's Kaa's throat. "Stop fighting now, or I will finish what he started" He said coldly, motioning to Garth.

(A nice try, Stripetail, but I would prefer if you would give Kerrek-Kaa a fight first.)
"Wretched beast." The dragon growled and slammed his tail with all his might against his very own neck. The force of the attack was extremely powerful, like a whip, and made Kerrek-Kaa roaring in pain and anger once again. He fell once more, but he was certain, that he was rid of his attacker. The foolish beast was either whiped away from him or crushed in the attack.

(Very well. I was planning for a fight anyway Nymon jumped backward into the air and tumbled to the ground. Just in time too, he wuld have been crushed by the dragon's tail had he stayed on Kerrek-Kaa's back. He picked up his sword(it had fallen out of his grasp as he fell) and prepared for battle."you'll have to do better than that dragon" He taunted as kerrek-kaa shivered in pain from the blow it had given itself. The absolute fear he had had was gone, replaced by fierce determination to subdue the dragon and force it to flee, or kill it if that became the only option. that would have been very difficult under normal circumstances, but given the wounds the otter and inflicted, along with the self-inflicted pain the dragon had just done to itself, killing it was far more achiivable. At the very least, he stood a chance of defeating it.

The dragon gritted his teeth. "Wait and bleed." He snarled, breathing another strem of fire.
