"Wow, yer actually gonna let me on yer ship?" He smiled as he swimmed past her but stopped with a paw on the ladder,"Oh, and what I put in that letter I take it back, wets not a good look for you." He pulled himself up the ladder with ease and dropped down on deck, he moved away from the ladder and stared at the tree-line,"Well well, theres a wee squirell maid." He thought for a minute,"I'll let her slide, besides Guinn promised a reward, an I don't need her going all crazy and yelling for an attack." He shrugged and waited for Guinn.

The dripping wildcat slinked up the ladder quickly dressed herself beind Thor's back. She came up beside him, buttoning her collar. Dark patches were spreading on her red jerkin from her sodden fur, but she paid them no mind. Drawing a slow breath, she turned to the badger, and spoke honestly, her eyes downcast. "I've misjudged you, Lightningstripe.. I'd like to thank you for helping me, though I would have gutted that oversized carp with my teeth if you'd given me the chance." She let the smallest of smiles slip, but snapped back to her usual, stoic face. "I owe you, at the very least, my repsect." She folded her arm across her waist and bowed deeply. Before straightening up, she muttered cooly, salvaging some dignaty. "Don't read too much into this stripedog.."

"Doon read too much inta me savin ya, yer too young ta die. Besides, t'wernt nothin but killin an oversized guppy." He stood up and looked at Guinn,"Besides, that, at least the shock that you were naked woke me up wide awake. It was a little weird, why not just keep yer jerkin on, or get a pair of trousers to were at least. But who am I ta judge, some swim naked...others doon." He rememberd his first time swimming naked, not to bright in the freezing ice water of the north. Nearly died of phnemonia. But he pulled through, another miracle the gods bestowed on him, his father always said."I ave a certain amount of respect fer you, it wavered a little when I saw you naked..." He was going to use this to his advantage, not only keep her mind off the shore, but now he had an advantage. She ever tried anything the whole fleet would know that he saw her naked."But doon worry, not a soul will find out."
Back on the Primary a pair of eyes saw it all. Dagrunt stood at the wheel, he had fallen asleep behind it earlier but when Thor hit the water he woke up. His sonar in his head saw everything that happened in the water,"Hehe, he may not know it," Dagrut heard what Thor was saying on the Cutter his ears picked up all the sounds,"But he startin ta be really liking wildcat yon Guinn Capin." His strange way of speaking was almost silent at that point,"But be not decision mine do ifin he is." Dagrunt yawned and plopped back down, leaning against that wheel,"Does this wake up feel when me does."

Guinn ruffed her fur, trying to dry out before her crew started waking up and question her soaked state. "I took off my jerkin because I didn't expect a flipping badger to come in after my hide! if you must know," She held her paw open and looked down at the button. "and I do wish you'd stop dwelling on it.. We're grown beasts, after all." Shaking her head, the wildcat stuffed the button in her pocket, muttering. "Is your thread done?.. not that i want to spend any more quality time with you.. but i wouldn't want to keep Usarrian waiting.."

"In all realy I ave no idea if tha grey squirrel finished or not, an I doon care if I make tha captain wait. I never ad ma cloths fixed or stiched, these be me only trousers that have no holes or cuts." He laughed a little,"You doon know why I dwell on it, in my village it was considered an insult to a female to see her naked, I just thought it strange you decided to do it naked. You could have worn clothes ta get tha stupid button, yer more loyal than me. I would ave laughed and asked im why he wasted that button. I'da jus let it sink." He laughed and stood up."Well yer right, but the problem is. My ship is way over there." He pointed across the Broadwing's deck to the Primary."An water cuts off me route, an doon git me wrong, I ain't afeard of the water. Its that the shark carcass and blood has broght more sharks to the area. An if I go in that water, I'm dead."

Guinn rubbed her temples and spoke slowly, only beginning to regtret the entire inccident. "I'm not a strong swimmer, twenty pound of wet fabric wouldn't aid in my retrieving the button. Now," she started, on a louder, sricter tone; her usual voice. "I've got boarding planks for you to get back to your ship." She waved a paw across deck at the small stack of lumber that lay flush with the wall of her cabin. "Take two, and be on you merry way.. Before somebeast sees us conversing and spreads rumors." The wildcat was visibly desterbed by this, rolling her shoulders and glancing around at the surrounding ships.

"Ya, we doon want rumors," He walked over to the planks and grabbed up two,"well then, I'll be on me merry way." He looked at the Broadwing and then to the Primary."Alright then," He lowered the first board slowly so it didn't make any noise when it made contact with the Broadwing's deck. He looked back at Guinn and gave a half wave flick of the wrist as he stepped onto the plank.
Back on deck Simion, the grey squirrel, was waking up,"Hummmmnaaaa. Aghhh, wat time is it?" He looked around deck and down at the plates,"Brimstones! The capin wanted tha cloth knitted...Oh ummm," He looked around for the cloth and was suprised to see that it was knitted, he had only done half before he ate himself to sleep."Who did the rest, all that knew about it was me an Capin Thor?"

"Damn it..." Thomas muttered, watching Kayla bound toward the ship. "Damn it." He shook his head and leaned out, not knowing the wildcat and the badger had been onboard. He had been too far away to hear their conversation. "Kayla!" he whispered harshly, loud enough for the capitans to hear.

Guinn had been watching Thor leave out of the corner of her eye, but she suddenly pricked her ears and leaned over the portside of The Cutter, she saw yet another squirrel climbing the archor rope of the Broadwing. "Hey!" She shouted, slamming her paw on the wooden rail, "You!" Reaching fer the rack of longbows beside the wheel, the wildcat strung and readied the bow to shoot. With an arrow trained on Thomas's back, she spoke, loud and clear, one eye closed as she kept her target pinned down. "Get off of that rope and come to the ladder hanging off of my ship... Come up here and show me your paws. If you make a sudden move, I'll pin you to the Broadwing's prow and leave you there to rot..."

Rinn sat in a hollow between two grass covered dunes further up the shore. This was had been her home since that stormy night. Planks and other debreis from the wreck had been formed into a ramshackle dwelling with greying canvas streatched over the top with a little sand thrown over it. In that same hollow was a make shift cemetary that Rinn had dedicated to her crew that she had lost in the wreck. She sat next to a meager driftwood fire with her dark cloak wrapped around her watching the guttering light cast shadows over the rows of little wood and stone markers. It seemed strange now, a fleet of ships had come to this lonely stretch of shore and she was torn between hate and longing. Rinn longed to be at sea again but she hated pirates and their ilk.
As she sat lost in thought she heard the faint strains of Guinn's voice echoing across the shore from where her ship was anchored. Getting up Rinn walked to where she could see the ships anchored in the cove. Straining, she saw a small figure on the anchor rope at which Guinn was aiming with a longbow. Rinn stood and watched the figure that Guinn was aiming for...

"I--" Thomas stuttered, feeling the aim of the arrow on his back. He turned to face Guinn. The smartest thing to do now was comprimise. If the arrow shoots, then he'll jump. If he makes it. He looked back, but couldn't see Kayla. "I...I'll get off of your ship..." he said bravely, "if you give me Artimis."

Wayra was still abord the boat searching for the squirrel. Where would i be on a pirate ship if i was a squirrel...where any sensible creature would be..trying to escape. When Wayra was back on the deck it was deserted although he did notice a new ship anchored near the others. The wild cat seemed to be holding a bow strung with it's arrow at somebody. Wayra climbed the eagles nest to get a better look. The other squirrel? or is that the same one.... He though climbing down from the nest and trying to find a way over to the other boat.

"Artimis?" The wildcat echoed, not dropping her bow. "You mean that runt Pitach dragged back?" Guinn gave a cruel laugh, "I killed him. Tell him I said good evening.." The captain let the string slide from her pad, and the arrow was thrown forward. It flew dead on, fish-tailing as the fletching hissed. ~~~~~~~~ Back in the small cabin, Pitach stirred in the chair where he'd slept. he sat up, rubbing his eyes, he checked to see that Artimis was still asleep in the hammock, before turning to his trunk and slipping on a clean, and crisply folded jerkin. Buttoning it up, he glanced at his figure in the tarnished mirror. "You look sharp old seadog.." He placed his thumbs undernieth his collar, and puffed his chest out.

Thor looked at Thomas and sighed,Theres jus too many squirrals ta save. If he hits the water he's dead, if that arrow gits em he dead. Those sharks will eat him either way. Thor looked down at the black shadows that were swarming the carcass in the water. He shook his head and crossed onto the Broadwing he walked quietly across deck and laid the second gang plank."Well, then, back ta the Primary. He crossed the plank and sighed as his feet hit familer deck. He looked around, the old grey squirral was sitting up looking at the cloth, Thor pushed the plank hard enough to slide it all the way on to the Broadwing "An jus wat are you doin?" The squirral jumped,"Notin sir!" "Wake up the rest o the crew. We attack at noon. After I mend yon Capin Usarrian's dumb little coat."

Thomas shouted and jumped backwards, off of the boat. With one paw he clung to the edge of the ship, grunting and gasping for breath. Dead? Artimis? It can't be... Tears blurred Thomas' vision. ~~~ Artimis heard a thump outside and groaned, opening an eye. He streached and leaned out over the hammock, his footpaws leaning on the deck, which groaned under his weight. "That was a good old nap, don't you think, mate?" He still wondered what the thump was and heard muffled voices outside. "Whats going on out there..." he mused to himself, glancing at Pitach and walking toward the door.
