Stripetail smote the ground with the staff. It sank firmly into the ground. Stripetail moved away from the staff and faced Haydn. He made a brief bow with his head, then expertly charged in.

Unsure for a moment, Haydn hesitated, his blade bucking under his stuttering grip. He made a small cut at the oncoming squirrel's forearm.

Stripetail parried the blow with ease. "Is your sister skilled at swordplay?" He asked

"Not really," Haydn replied, stepping in quickly with a thrust, "She's fair with a bow though.."

Sek-Raktaa had remained silent the whole time, listened into their conversations carefully. "Abilites are neither good, nor evil." He said finally. "It's always how to use them."
He turned his head and looked straight at Haydn. "If your sister is good of heart, then she will learn over time that there is more than anger, sadness and darkness." He remained silent for a moment, deep in thought.
"Although I must admit, that great sensitivity in magic also causes a greater sensitvity about your feelings. The stronger you become, the more sensitive you will become. The more the anger, sadness and hatred grows in you, the stronger will you become consumed by it, until you have turned into a tool of evil."
"However, one following that path is not ulterior lost. Love, friendship and loyality. All these are feelings which cure this kind of corruption." He remained silent for a couple of more moments, thinking about his next words.
"We can try to cure this corruption in her, but depending of her state of corruption, it might become a very hard task to perform."

"Well said" Stripetail nodded. "there is a natural temption for powerful magical creatures to use their powers for their own ends. However, the greatest of magical creatures practice self-sdenial using their powers in the service of others, rather than for their own petty goals."

Haydn stepped back, and twirled his blade absently, it was a habit of his when unsure what to do next. "Her reasons aren't petty," He said, "I don't know weather to call them selfish or just the opposite.. She wants our clan to flurish again. Mara, Garrick and I are the only ones left, but I'm afraid she'll do anything for that to happen, and Garrick is right behind her." The wolf looked from Sak-Raktaa to Stripetail, playing another calm cut at the squirrel.

There 's a way for her to do that without causing bloodshed. It's called finding a mate>' Stripetail said sharply.

"When I suggested settling down and having a big family, I found out that she has a mean left hook," Haydn replied with an airy chuckle, "She said she has no time for romance."

Didn't you suggest that she make time for it? or was that remark followed by a right paw blow? " Stripetail grinned

"I learn quickly," he said dryly, "I protected my jaw before commenting on her temper.. Anyway," the wolf added, "She doesn't go out of her way to hurt anyone, but it doesn't seem to bother her much.."

So, she doesn't go out of her way to have creatures, but on the other paw, she doesn't feel remorse when she does? Apparently she doesn't care if she harms other creatures" Stripetail remarked

"I know.." Haydn sighed, "I've tried to make sense out of it for a long time, but she just keeps berreling foreward and I can't help but feel she isn't Mara anymore.." The wolf twisted his sword again, the lithe blade wagg ing in the sunlight.

She certainly isn't the Mara you knew, the mara you knew may still be in her, but you'd have to pull her out."
