Aestorica, home to the legendary Sowarkard abbey, is home to many magical creatures. Divided into several parts by various landholding lords in the distant past, the largest holdings have traditionally been those of the Starshine family of squirrells. The head of the family, Lord Dannus attended Sowarkard Abbey and was regarded as one of the greatest wizards in history. His great-grandson Darius, however has inherited his title and holdings, but neither his talent nor temperment. An average wizard, Darius is arrogant and demanding, and shows no kindness to those he considers beneath him. Lord Stripetail

Aestorica runs from the river Genosse in the North to the coast of Tasera in the South. Sowarkard is located on the Coast on a high rocky cliff and protects the lands behind it. The abbey has a magic barrier around it, sustained by the powers of its most powerful wizard. Over the ages the strength of the barrier has waned,as the most powerful magics are forgotten and the abbey has become vulnerable. Lord Stripetail

Zilith grinned as he gazed up at the Abbey. His search for his long-lost older brother was finally complete. Realizing that someone might see him, he dove behind a boulder.

Stripetail walked into the Abbey. A servant of Darriusc along with his parents, he hated being looked down upon by Darrius. If I could win the Sowarkard Dueling Chaampionship, I'd gain a title, then, he'd respect me!" He thought as he walked. Lord Stripetail

Zilith took some rope and a climbing hook out of his pack and attatched them together. He crossed his fingers, hoping that no one was on guard duty, and threw the contraption up to the top of the wall.

"Stop being a fool, Stripetail" He rebuked himself. "You could be King of the Seven Kingdoms and Darrin STILL wouldn't respect you. Even IF I were to win (and no first-year has ever made the quarterfinals, let alone win), he still wouldn't respect me" Lord Stripetail

As Stripetail walked through the abbey, he looked around. The abbey was very large, with five stone buildings in the middle. These housed the students and classrooms. The far left was for first and second years, the second building was for third and fourth years, the middle housed fifth and sixth years, the right building held the seventh and eighth years and the building on the far right held the ninth and tenth years. Around the buildings were ornate statues carved out of stone. These were statues of famous creatures who had lived at Sowarkard at one time or another. Stripetail stopped in front of a statue of a fox. 'Feristas the Great- born S. 217- died S. 342. One of the greatest fox wizards in Sowarkard's history, Feristas was renowned for his healing and combat skill. Was Head Wizard in his last year and dueling champion in his tenth year" Stripetail finished reading the inscription and made his way to to the far left building.

The first-years building was the smallest of the five, but like the other buildiings it was ornately furnished. Tapestries hung on the walls, showing the history of the abbey. ancient figures stood art a table or casting a spell, or fighting a duel. Stripetail turned to the left, Down here was the domitory for male first-years, hidden somewhere inside a wall.

A tenth year was waiting for Sripetail by his bunk, Glawez was reknowned for his hatred of Darius and his skill in magic however Darius had made it so that he could not take part in the competition "It has come to my attention that you are of some skill in the field of magic and I think the grandest insult i could give to Darius would be to train the beast that defeated him the fact that you are a first year makes it all the better"the fox spoke quickly as if he had little time to stay "I am volunteering to help train you to win"

As he waited for the foxs reply, the door opened and Darius walked into the room. Darrius was smaller than Stripetail in size, had light brown furand a bushy tail. His mouth dropped into a sneer when he saw Stripetail. "Well, well if it isn't the charity case. My Grandfather's too soft on you servant.Once you're done talking, tell the tenth year to beat it. I can't believe Master Donovan is allowing him to compete in the tournament, after what that fox said about me' Darrius looked at the two with spite, then left. LOrd stripetail

Zilith scaled the wall quickly, looked around to see if anyone had spotted him, and sneaked through a large door. He was in a long narrow hallway with many doors on each side. He crept along one side and went through a door at one end.

Excuse Me, can I help you? a voice rang in his ear. He turned and saw a elderly-looking squirrell. "I am Rufe Donavan, headmaster of Sowarkard Abbey. Can I be of some assistance to you?' Lord Stripetail

Zilith jumped. He hadn't heard the squirrel sneak up behind him. He turned and stared at the slightly frail-looking creature. "Uhhhhh..... hello." he muttered as he backed away toward the nearest door. "I... uh... look! A flying barrel of cordial!" he pointed behind Master Donovan then dashed off through the wooden door to his right.

Donovan gestured and Zilith was magically dragged out the door. "Young one, that flying cordial bit is one I've heard several times. " He chuckled. 'it hasn't fooled me yet." He closed his paw and Zilith dropped to the floor. Donovan went over and offered his paw. "Let me help you up." Lord Stripetail
