Well, any wandering beast is welcome to stay, taking a glance at Reddal, who, was counting the arrows in his quiver. Judging from his reaction to Luca, Sanimus guessed that Reddal didn't trust the nnewcomer..

Though he appeared light-hearted and careless, Luca was aware of teh company he found himself in. He cast a lingering eye over Reddal, making a note of his quiet hostility. Just to be safe, the fox added disarmingly: "Well, I was just cast off of a pirate's ship as a piece of jetsam... I'm lucky those vermin didn't slit my throat first.... Would'a made it mighty hard to swim all this way.. Heheh.." He laughed, still watching Reddal carefully, hoping there would be no need to defend himself...

"Pirates!" Sanimus was alerted. "How close are they to this island?' He spoke sharply. "This is a peaceful place, we are no match for bloodthristy seavermin..'He gave Luca a look..

Luca furrowed his brow, and answered with a baffled gesture at teh tunnel he had just come from. "Er, they're .... They were at the mouth of the bay last time I saw... admittedly, it was just a glance over my shoulder... while swimming..." The fox trailed off, and he looked from Sanimus to Reddal, one eyebrow raised... "I don't think they were here on ..... business, if you're worried... however, Cap'n Penelope was quite peeved at me..." The young fox grimaced, and laughed nervously. He leaned over and gently elbowed an otter that sat by the fire. "You know those vixens.... fuse as short as a vole's tail..." The otter scowled at him, and he dropped his eyes and scuffed his boots...

"Great, so she'll search the island in order to find you and bring you back to her ship to punish you, in the meanwhile, her vermin horde will pick the island clean and kilill anyone who they find..."Sanimus sank to the ground..

"Perhaps," Reddal spoke for the first time since the fox had arrived. "Perhaps you should go." He looked at Luca, his eyes unchanging, but he thingyed his head and kept his hand at his quiver. "If this vixen sees you leaving then perhaps she will follow."

"unlikely, if the stories about such vermin are true" sanimus sighed. She won't be satisfied with just getting him back, he'll be put on the rack for sure, but she won't stop once she finds him..

Luca didn't show much emotion at all, his yellow eyes moved slowly from Sanimus to Reddal, and then he spoke. "Listen, I'm not teh reason they came here... I was just a shadow in the stores on that ship, and if I were you beasts," he paused and cast a stern gaze over the two creatures, "I would be grateful that I was here to warn you of their approach, and offer the information that I have... Now, are you going to chase off your only valuable source of information?" The fox stood fast, with a calm yet challenging air about him. He crossed his arms, and waited for them to reply...

Reddal considered for a moment. "Very well. What information do you have, fox?" The hare lay back, relaxing his hand, and laying his quiver down close. He wasn't about to attack Luca, but it was clear he was ready to fight should the need arise.

Luca nodded at the tunnel entrance, "I know quite a bit about these vermin," Luca paused, and looked pointedly at the hare Reddal; he was sure that's how the hare saw him, simply a fox, thus vermin. Luca had been treated as a creature from teh slums his whole life, and he knew the look of prejudice all too well; however, he didn't hold it against the hare quite yet... in the brief moment before he started speaking again, he forgave teh hare his current trespass, and mentally started a new. "I have been locked in their hold for the past week, with precious few meals... I will tell you all that I know over a hot meal, if you have rations to spare..." Luca once again eyed the small, iron stove hungrily. His gray face was hollow, and his cheekbones were visible.

"We'll share with you gladly" Sanimus said. Opening the stove and popping in a small meat pie "It'll take about fifteen minutes to cook, roughly" He said. "While its cooking, tell us about these vermin. How did you end up on board their ship in ther first place? where is your home? Do you have parents or relatives?' Sanimus had lots of question but he stopped for now to allow the fox time to answer..

"Haha, well, now I'll sound like a foolish dibbun when I tell you the truth..." He laughed as he looked down at his paws. "I was looking for a bit of adventure, I've been on the mainland, traveling, meeting folks and seeing the world, but I wanted so badly to see what was over the horizon... so, I stole aboard a ship that was birthed at the docks in my hometown. Little did I know it was a pirate's ship, and I thought they'd kill me that firt night they found me, but, my silver tongue not only saved my life, it caught the eye of the Captain Penelope Eves, and she invited me to stay with her in her chambers..." Luca's face grew soft for a moment as he recalled the brief, passionate affair. "When I asked to get off on this island, she went into a fit of rage, and said that if I wasn't to marry her and sail the seas for the rest of our days, then she would see to it that I not spenc my days with any other beast....." Luca leaned back and added in a huskily ironic tone, "the vixen doesn't take rejection with much dignity... But, I suppose I do that to the ladies." he smoothed back his thick, silver tipped fur jokingly.

"Well I'm glad you find it so amusing. Such a big game, hmm?" Reddal looked at the young fox accusingly in the eye. "Your wonderful little adventure could have got you, and not to mention many others, killed. What would you have done had they asked you to accompany them on one of their little trips? Put a blade in you hand and asked you to murder and steal?" The hare remained in his relaxed position. He had said his piece.

So, you slept with a Vixen, who has loads of bloods on her paws?" Sanimus shook his head. "You're lucky you're not dead mate. Now you've spurned her, and she's pissed at you, and wants you back, by any means necessary.. and if she has to drown this island in blood, so be it" He frowned. "Mate you've gottenn yourself, and all of us here, in a heap of trouble.."
