As it stood, Ladorak Fugate felt uneasy about returning here. He wasn't at all used to the idea. He hadn't been back in close to ten years now... or perhaps it was fifteen? Either way, the stoat could not remember. He doubted if anyone in the Abbey would remember him, as it had been so long ago.
He was clad only in a cape and sword belt, choosing to eschew his officer's uniform for his return visit. No one here would recognize it, and even though he was a Captain, it would probably make no difference to them. At his side hung a blade of remarkable craftsmanship, though all that was visible was the hilt, for now. The hilt was decorated with an opal in the center of the cross guard, and a smaller sapphire was set into the very bottom of the handle.
The stoat was in his summer coat, brown fur with white underbelly, though had an unusual white splotch just next to his right ear, as if it simply had refused to molt. Other than that, and the golden pince nez spectacles upon his snout, Ladorak Fugate looked just like any other stoat.
He was approaching the Abbey now, knowing the path well, as he'd spent a summer here recuperating, but it had been a decade or more ago. He approached along the wooded path, hoping he wouldn't be taken for an enemy the closer he got.

as Ladorak approached, and old squirrell stepped out from the abbey gates ' thisas Lord stripetail, Redwall's resident seer. he divided his time between salamandastron and here, when he wasn't advising bader Lords, he was performing magic for the dibbuns at redwall. Stripetail was ancient, some in the abbey estimated he could be close to a thousands seasons of age, although his real age he had never revealed. he glanced at the weasel and he paused.. ' it is a beautifull day.. isn't it?' he said pleasantly..

The stoat gazed upon the unusually old looking squirrel, and relaxed upon realizing he wasn't going to be attacked. "Yes... It truly is." He stated, speaking with a soft Norfolk drawl, or at least, it would be a Norfolk drawl if the animals of the Abbey had any notion of British locations.
"I'm sorry to show up so suddenly, but I was wondering... if you could perhaps tell me if certain creatures still reside within these walls? I was taken here a very long time ago, when I was a bit younger than I am now. I was saved... and restored to good health. I always wanted to come back though... ah... forgive me." Ladorak said, offering his paw. "I'm Ladorak Fugate. And you are?" he asked.

"Ah yes... of course. I imagine there would be. I guess I'm just glad that I wasn't forgotten. What do you do here, Lord Stripetail?" Ladorak himself didn't mention his own lineage, as he figured it wasn't important at the moment.

Well i'm a seer, one who knows the past and sees the future. you were here due to injury, one of the rare stoats permitted to reside here.. in the entire history of the abbey the list of vermin goodbeasts fills less than half a page, you were on a ship crwed by a vicious pirate is that correct..

Ladorak felt a bit uneasy at how much the squirrel knew about, and he shifted his weight a tad. "I uh... well yes. I was permitted to reside here until I had recovered. I was on a pirate ship... though there was more to it than that." He stated. "I um..." Here cleared his throat a little, in a nervous fashion. "I was on Sampetra at one time... when it was ruled by Emperor Ublaz... are you familiar with him?"

"I... hope he is as well." Ladorak said, swallowing heard at the squirrel's words. He did not wish to admit something about Ublaz just yet, but he would come out with it in due time.
"Tell me... do you know about his special ability? The one that gave him his moniker?" he continued.

"That's right." that stoat confirmed with a nod, a sad look passing through his eyes. "As you said, he hypnotized with his gaze. Everything you said was true... but well... that's how he came to control me, you see." He stated.
Ladorak shifted again, clasping his paws in front of him. I was marooned there... or more correctly, my mother was when she was pregnant with me, and died giving birth... or so Ublaz told me. He used his eyes to control me from a very young age... that's why I could never the island of my own will..."

But them Martin the Warrior killed Ublaz, martin, the grandson of matthias, not the ancient martin whose spirit walks these abbey halls stripetail replied " You have suffered greatly at Ublatz's paw, and yourt must be happy he is no longer on this plane..

"That's right. Martin II killed him. It was Martin II who brought me here as well, after he found me... I pleaded with him to take me away... but due to the hypnosis, I couldn't leave of my own will... so I urged him to take me. He did so. I was despondent at first... the spell that that marten weaves is a strong one... but gradually... through staying here... I was able to heal... both physically and mentally." He explained.
"As for whether or not I'm glad... I suppose I am. Yes. I used to hate him... a lot. But it turns out... because I was his servant... one of his most trusted servants... well not through my own will of course, but because of that... he left me a sizable fortune in his loot... and it helped see me through several years. He did raise me." Ladorak confessed, albeit hesitantly, as he wasn't sure what the squirrel would think. "But you're right, overall, he wasn't a good beast."

"Yes... it most certainly can, and has been used for good things." the stoat confirmed following after the squirrel. "Thank you, I am a bit hungry and tired. I've traveled far after all. I only my... appearance won't alarm others." He said, knowing that his type were rare in these parts.
