Softly the wind moaned around the crumbling walls and buildings of the ancient fortress, it had long ago fallen into ruin after it's master had been killed. Many of the timber elements had rotted away causing walls and buildings to fall in as nature took it's toll on the derelict structures. In the center of the over grown parade ground within what had once been the main building the olde stairs that led down to the cellars and dungeons still stood. A great black void with ramshackle steps disappearing down. Gradually they came, other sounds from the deep. Screams of terror and frantic foot falls of some unseen creatures. From out of the dark a faint light began to appear as the first of two creatures appeared out of the darkness. Kyla the squirrel was the first to reach the top of the stairs, lantern in hand. Turning back she looked for her companion. The site that she beheld sent chills down her spine.
"Gareth!" Kyla screamed as she saw the mouse who was her friend and traveling companion being drug back down into the darkness. It had caught him.
Too terrified to go back down into the dark depths of the labyrinthine passages that lay under the fortress Kyla decided that I was a better idea to run for help. The moors were a vast and lonely place but surly there would be someone that could help her. Someone who could help her go back for Gareth. Kyla ran from the crumbling fortress back down the overgrown path towards the main path across the moors.

a good distance away, stripetail staggered on the uneven path that wound over the moors.' a light floated over his head, allowing him to see in front of him. the old seer had been through the moors before, they were a quiet and lonely place, most of the time. stripetail gripped tighter on his staff and continued moving his eyes passing back and forth as he glanced around. nothing to his left, nothing to his right.

as the old squirrel continued his trek forward he heard rustling and the sound of rapid footsteps.. somebeast was running nearby, and he stopped, waiting to see if whoever it was would cross his path. stripetail had though himself alone on the moor this evening, well, clearly that was not the case.
