"Ah, a hedgehog coming down the mountian said something about construction. I was born near the northern shores, but I've traveled the lands all my life. So, have you any contact with Salamandastron?"

"Well, no actually. Just the occaisonal lost patrol, but, there hasn't been one up this way in many a season." Brickstripe answered. He shouldered his sword and began walking back to the construction site.

Xylon walked over the the road side, sat down and watched the forest and the bottom of the mountain, wondering where to go.

"If you don't mind hard labor you could help us build, we may even give you a room or hut, if you want." Brickstripe, the everfriendly Badger Lord offered Xylon.

Xylon sheathed his haversack and walked over to help with the construction. "Well, I've nothing to do and nowhere to go, so I might just stay up here for a few days."

"Fine by us, wot, wot!" Basil said, he tossed Xylon a shovel and a pick-axe. The rest of the crew resumed work, squirrels scaling scaffolding, moles measuring and cutting, hares bashing, hedgehogs bashing, mice bashing, voles bashing, badger bashing, and the children carring the bashed rock out. ;D

Xylon caught the pick-axe in the air, letting the shovel fall to the ground beside him and started digging away at the rock. He had always liked mining jobs.

Brickstripe bashed and bashed and bashed and bashed some more, without even realizing it, he was bashing right through a vane of gold. Only when he got hit in the head with a chunk did he stopp and call over the mole miners.

Xylon turned to see that the badger had struck a gold vein in the mountain side. Hiding a grin, he saw the mole diggers clambor over the badger to rush to the precious metal.

The moles made some hasty calculations and Brickstripe stood back, picking gold out of his fur. More moles with picks began extricating the gold from the vein, so as to get the work moving quickly again. "Well, this saves me from cutting heating vents throughout the mountain. The vein seems to run straingt through the mountains.

Xylon walked over to help the moles excavate excess gold from the vein.

Once the gold had been removed from the entital line of construction, Brickstripe went at it again. Even with moles and the wolf taking gold from the vein behind and beside him, he worked like a maniac. He slammed and bashed with the hamer and long metal chisel and cleared a few good yards when he decided to rest.

Xylon back away from the gold vein, rock flying in all directions. The sinewy form of the behemoth before him was like a machine, grinding away at the mountainside. Now here was one to defend these creatures, a creature who would not tolerate enemies. Admiring the badger as he laid down to rest, Xylon turned back to the gold vein and worked with the moles.

Brickstripe watched as the little dibbuns ran and gathered up gold stuff and rock rubble and took it back to dump to make the roads with. He smiled, he loved dibbuns very much.

Xylon saw little ones gathering up gold pieces and rocks, stumbling amoung the rubble. He hid a smile as he sat down beside the rock wall, exhausted.
