Was it? I've heard good things about the CGs
I was talked into going with a friend tomorrow, but I didn't care for the books much. A little too cliche, and it's stuck i my craw as a fellow writer that the author's parents work for a publishing company..

I heard that the movie was lousey. I thought about going to see it but I haven't heard too many good reviews of it besides the fact that the dragon was really cool looking. I'll probably just settle for watching the previews since that's probably the best parts of the movie. Book-Movie transcriptions usually don't go well, Narnia being the exception. The Black Cauldron was completely maimed when it was done as an animated movie by Disney, I think that's who did it. Anyway it was nothing like the book, more like the meshing of The Book of Three which was the previous book in the Chronicals of Pridon and The Black Cauldron. Though my favorite CG dragon movie of all time is still Dragonheart.

The reviews have not been favborable, and while I like the first book, I did not like the secind as much. He made Eregon too powerful, and I was less able to commiserate with him. Tolkien is the standard for fantasy, every fantasy series written in the last 50 years has borrowed from him, wittingly or no.

Tolkien's stories were amazing, his style of writing was a little dense for me though.

Tolkien used ancient languages and combined elements of myths and legends together with history(He was a professor at Oxford) to create Middle-Earth. paolini did a goodjob with thefirst, must you may forgive me f I saw much that was familiar in the book, he borrowed from Tolkien, in great detail.

I originally planned to go and watch the movie, for I didn't really care about the books. However, in the end I changed my mind. Partly, due because the story is a little bit to much cliche and simple for me. Mainly however because I don't like the Eragon-Actor. And Saphira looks way to cute for that kind of genre/story. I can't respect her or take her as seriously as I could Draco in Dragonheart.

The movie was okay. Some of the effects were awesome. The story was too much like Star Wars for my liking. The writter needs find their own ideas. Also... Eragon Dragon Real original.

Rowling does the same thing.
'The Legend of Rah and the Muggles.' The author sued Rowling, and lost. 'Platform nine and 3/4' is the name of another wizardish book, that again, predates her series. 'The Boggart,' another wizardish book, predating Rowling's work. And on top of that, look up any bit of old English, and you'll find out where she get's 80% of her place/charecter names.
I think her story is decent, her filling is pretty lame.
