The beat of the drum was loud and exciting, the tribe celebration being illuminated by flames. Foxes hooted and yelled with cheer, dancing around a huge bonfire that lit up the night, the tents in the background being covered it twirling shadows. Kymera lay in the crowd, her right paw over her left. She was curled, her tail wrapped around her body, but her head was up and alert, smiling slightly at the sight of the happy clan members.
Lowering her gaze, she lifted herself and walked into a tent that was bigger than the others. "Sire?" she said quietly. Her voice was smooth and beautiful. Kymera lowerd her head in respect of the gray fox sitting in front of a small fire, gazing into the flames. He was not an old fox, merely thirty seasons. "Come in, my child..." he replied softly. She slowly padded around the fire, keeping her eyes on the face of Uyrino. "Sire...what do you see?" She asked quietly and inquiringly as she looked at him seriously.
"I see..." He looked up toward the tent flaps. At that very moment, a slightly older male fox burst into the tent, gasping for breath. "Master Uyrino." He tipped his nose in a hasty attempt of respect. "Somebeast not of this tribe has been spotted outside of the territory on the eastern side of the mountain, spying out the clan." The fox looked worried. "This beast seems hostile, believed not to be of this clan."
Uyrinos eyes hardened. "Warn the villagers." he replied quickly, then slinked outside of the tent without a backward glance at Kymera. She clenched her teeth and shut her eyes tightly. It was hard to talk to him, especially with so many interupptions. She opened her eyes again and followed through the tent flaps. Kymera spotted a band of the Raend warriors padding quickly toward the east mountainside. She followed, anxious to see this intruder.
