Not the magical type himself, Hadyn had wondered a few shops down looking for a new cloak. He decided this when he looked down at the frayed hole torn across the front of teh one he wore now. Ha managed to barter with his last few coins and the old cloak, for a decent garment and returned to the goup.
Heather stood rocking on her feet like a dibbun, gazing at teh sky. She was listening to the magical dealigs and finally voiced her intrest. ".. How much would an echanted blade be? .. just a small one," she added, holding out her paws five or six inches apart.

"That depends on both the blade and the enchantment." The otter replied, rummaging through a chest. "I've got a shortsword made of common steel, dealing additional lightning damage, for 50 gold. Then I've another one, this one made of silver with additional frost damage for 150 gold." He put the blades in front of him. "This one is made of fine steel and deals additional frost damage for 125 gold." The otter then pointed towards a shortsword with a blade of an emerald green crystal. "This glass shortsword here deals additional fire damage and costs 350 gold and finally" he pointed towards a shortsword, made of a dark, almost black, ore and decorated with golden markings "this ebony shortsword here which deals additional lightning damage for 475 gold."

"Oh my..." The fisher said, looking down at the open purse in her paw. She bit her lip and counted the cions again. "175... " she thought very carefully. She didn't have a lot of moey now, but what was she to do if, no, when they came to a fight? Throw gold pieces at them? She firmly set 125 gold pieces down beside the blade she wanted. "I'll take it, the frost blade.."

"Very well, here it is." The otter said, taking the gold and handing the shortsword Heather. "I'm sure you'll find it most usefull."

She took it gingerly and held it up in the light. "Thank you," she muttered, squinting as the sun slid up the blade like a a tiny wave. For half a second, she felt like she held more then a pound of magicked steal in her paws, but all the thigs the blade might see in her adventure. Goosebumps rose along her back and she blinked. Clipping the blade to her belt as if it had always been there, she smiled. It was the first present she'd ever given herself.

Stripetail nodded. "So I imagine that these traders acquire their spells from foriegn lands...Hopefully I made some good buys today." He turned and looked at Heather, and smiled. "So you bought something? Let me look at it..'

The fisher gladly handed him the shortsword, holding the shealth so he could draw it.

Stripetail drew it out and looked at the small blade, turning it over in his paw and let the sun's rays run up and down the blade. he looked up and saw a wooden support beam nearby. His eyes twinkled. "Let's try it out shall we?' He asked smiling. He suddenly swung the blade towards the beam. and as the blade sliced through the air with a sharp whistle, Stripetail's tremendous magical powers brought out the blade's freezing abilities. in an instant the beam was covered in a blanket of ice, running up from halfway up the beam to near the ceiling. Stripetail completed his swing and looked at the blade. It had turned deep blue with the casting of the frost spell. He held out the changed blade for heather to see.

Heather prided herself on being a beast that was hard to surprise, cool and collected even when bewildered, but her tail hung as limp as did her jaw. She ran a single claw along the steel, then looked up at the squirrel. "Will it do that.. for me?"

It will turn blue when you cast a frost spell" Stripetail nodded. "It will only turn that shade when its full power is tapped. That will take you time, Heather. I happen to be quite skilled at spellcasting so I can access the full power of magical items far easier than someone who is unfamiliar with them. That blade will serve you well, that blast I just unleashed would have frozen someone solid if it would have hit them. That blade has some fairly strong magic in it, once you master it, you will be quite a formidable foe' he smiled.

Sek-Raktaa, who'd watched the scenery from afar, smiled. "You made yourssself a very good buy on that." He commented, smiling at Heater.

The young fisher took the balde back and looked at it again, almost frightened of it. The color was starting to fade from the spell already.. She thought she could still feel some magic leavig it, but she was't sure.. Does magic work that way? she asked her self...
Looking down at the groud, she swung the blade half heartedly. Nothing special happened, ad she looked up at Stripetail with a frown. "What do i need to do?"

You need to focus" stripetail explained. "Casting a spell requires that you concentrate on the object of the spell, if you let your mind wander, then the spell will not be as effective, if you are able to cast it at all. Now my spell was brief, I was merely fiddling with it. That's why the blade changed back after only a short time."

"In a way, it'sss like a game of chanccce." Sek-Raktaa continued. "If you ssstrike an opponent, there'sss a chanccce it might trigger the attack and a chanccce it might not. The better you'll become with your blade however, the better you will be able to control thessse powersss. Give it time, and you'll be able to cassst that ssspell no problem. Jussst keep the charge of your sssword in mind. Onccce the charge isss up, you won't be able to trigger the enchantment until the blade hasss recharged itssself again."
