The slumbering creature twitched, the slight wind moving his tail.

The sword was now all the way out of its sheath, and Silas wasted no time. He silently mouthed to Belko, What now?

A breeze tickled the wolf's nose, and he opened his pale blue eyes, looking up into the sky. The dream slipped away slowly as the creature sat there, thinking of the day ahead.

Belko held his arms up to his neck, showing Silas he wanted him to hold his blade to Xylon's neck. Belko sure hoped this would work. What he hopred for was that Xylon would not struggle against Silas but if he did, Belkko could provide him with cover from the trees.

Silas moved his blade towards Xylon, pointing the tip at his neck. He tried to actually touch the fur on the lupine's throat, delicately controlling the sword. But he gave up at the last second on that idea, and waited for Belko to give the next order, whatever he had in mind.

The wolf felt a slight, unnaturally small breeze at his neck, and looked to see the squirrel from the plains there. Xylon bared his teeth, putting his palms against the ground in a position to get up.

"Hold up there." Silas poked him threateningly in the throat lightly with his sword.

Xylon was surprised that the squirrel had caught him off guard, and a little nervous, but kept his teeth bared. "What do you want, squirrel?"

"I want you either out of my fur, or dead." He glares coldly into the wolf's eyes, blue meeting blue. "Take your pick. Either leave us alone, or I could kill you here and solve my problem that way."

The wolf growled, his eyes glinting fiercely. "In case you didn't notice, squirrel, I wasn't 'in your fur'."

Belko stifled a giggle at Xylon's reply. "Ye best to as Silas says wolf," he said, using his skills of vantriliquism to mask his location. "I got two darts hear, one aiming fer yer neck, and one where the sun don't shine," he said through a grin, trying to sound as serious as possible.

"Oh, I recall you threatening us down in the southern flatlands, giving me this." he parted some of his cheekfur, and there were three scars, from when Xylon slashed at his face. He smoothed the fur back out, and let his left paw hag limp as he held the sword in his right. "And appearing on the very road we are traversing is suspicious enough...'

Xylon's growl thinned. "As is why you are traveling on the same road I'm on." Leaning his head back, he looked up at the second squirrel in the tree with distaste. "I'm not going to try to figure out what that means."

"Hehe," Belko laughed. "And you probably don't want to me not-so-friendly-friend. Now run along peaceably, and I won't have tae shoot,"

The wolf looked puzzled, staring up at the squirrel like he was a lunatic. How could he run when the other squirrel had him with a blade...and what did the first sentence even mean?
