"Impressive, the same goes for me. I suppose one learns to fend for oneself after living in these woods alone. I suppose you're a loner in life?" Hei winced as a wave of pain brought on by the talking came roiling forth from his bruised and possibly cracked ribs.

At this, the wolf paused to think a moment. This was hard with the stinging pains over his body, but he was able to form a response. Albeit not a truthful one. "All my life," he answered with cloudy eyes.

Noticing the wolf's eyes glaze over with a faraway look, and decided not to press the subject. Instead, he grabbed the pair of maces, still tangled, and began to untwine them. "Where did you get your weapons? The quality on this mace is pretty high. It takes lots of time and energy to make these." Hei finished distangling them and handed the wolf's weapon back.

Shaking his head to clear his eyesight, Xylon took the gleaming mace, still tinkling slightly with the falling rain. If a mace was considered crude, than this was most certainly an elegant mace. He had used it for many seasons, but took care not to let it rust or crease with blood. "Salamandastron," he answered after several seconds, "Is where the mace comes from. I crafted the kunai and sword myself using the badgers' forge, and the Lord there at the time made this mace. I can't remember if he's still there..."

Hei cringed at the mention of the fire mountain, and responded with caution, not wanting to give anything away. "That's also where I got my weapons, but I forgot who the lord was at the time."

Stuffing the mace back in the haversack, and that under the tree in turn, Xylon ignored the slight nervousness in Hei's voice and rose, shaking his fur to dislodge some of the rain trapped in it. "I'd best be going," he said, and indeed turned and began to walk south out of the clearing.

Hei let him leave. Why shouldn't he? Hei leaned back, blowing out an explosive sigh, and set his lungs burning from the pain.

It was painful to walk, but the wolf did so, letting his mind wander. He automatically tightened the bandages on his arms, which had begun to loosen from the previous battle. Taking another look at his body, he saw that his legs, mostly his thighs, were torn up a good amount. His stomach was the same way, and his face harbored many cuts as well. After almost half an hour, Xylon found another big oak and sat, laying his back against the bark like always. The traveler closed his eyes and shook his head again, now cold from the wet rain. He tried to ignore the chill of the water and closed his pale eyes, allowing sleep to come. He also ignored any emotions he might be feeling at the time, though there was little. A bit of shame, perhaps, at having almost been beaten by a weasel and a squirrel. Seriously; he was a moderately-aged wolf, a veteran fighter, and couldn't kill two measly, young, shorter creatures? Maybe he was getting slow... Well, that wasn't completely true. He, arguably, had defeated the weasel, and was holding back a little while fighting anyways. Being around Ritari made him want to act rash for some reason, so he had gone head to head with the opponents, which was unusual for him. Yes, he could've easily killed them with a swift and silent throw of a kunai. That fit. But he really shouldn't hurt the weasel anymore. She was still young, and didn't need any scars or serious injuries. She didn't deserve them anyways. And surprisingly, Xylon didn't really find her annoying. He didn't mind a bit of company after weeks of solitude, and the weasel made him be more active than usual. Sighing, the light gray creature settled back into the rough bark, which was oddly comforting after the day's events. It must be nearing night, and the storm didn't show any sign of passing any time soon. No travelers should pass through in this weather, so the wolf was safer than normal. It'd be best just to get some sleep. OOC: 5 paragraph post ...

[ *grumbles* Raargh! Exam week! Leavemealone! ]
Ritari woke alone. She instinctively looked up at the sky, seeking out the sun through the canopy of trees. It wasn't where it had been when last she checked. The weasel found it significantly down its path, and wondered why she'd been allowed to sleep that long. More importantly, why was she still alive? The wolf and squirrel had been fighting pretty nasty, and she'd been sure she'd get some backlash from one of them. Apparently not.
With great care she stood, wincing as sore muscles stretched to places that hurt. Sensing that she was truely alone, or at least no beast around her intended her harm, she tried to stretch out the worst of the soreness. It hurt so bad there was no way Ritari would willingly walk through the pain.
Once she could walk without wincing every step, she collected what she'd brought and looked around. She wasn't actually sure where she was or where to go to get back to Redwall. The weasel had spent most of her training on fighting, rather than other slills like tracking.
Ritari finally chose one direction and started walking. Well, limping, really. She hadn't gone far when she stopped and decided this was a hopeless mission. She wasn't getting anywhere without help, but her pride was too strong to call for help. So she sat and stared at the ground, not sure what to do, and waiting for someone to come by.

OOC: *Whimpers and cowers*
The wolf could not sleep, however. Not from personal reasons particularly. More because he had heard something on the path. the creature lifted his sleek head to see Ritari not so far aways, sitting glumly on the path. Was she too hurt to continue? Or just lost?
His ears perked up at the thought of the weasel in need of help. So, he had beaten her. Letting the smallest hint of a smile fly across his features, Xylon stood and walked over, not letting any of the pains he felt passing to his face. Once only a few feet away, and towering over the weasel when she sat, he gazed down on her and spoke. "Need any help?"

It hadn't been very long after she sat that Xylon approached her. Her ears swiveled to catch the sound of him moving closer, and she twisted to see who was coming. At the sight of the wolf, her eyes light up. When he finally stopped walking, she craned her neck to see his face, the cracking of her neck audible as she had slept on it wrong and gotten it aching.
"I'm lost," she said simply, no trace of shame in it. The only shame she felt - losing to the older, more experienced fighter in front of her - overshadowed any other she might feel. Though she did note the new bruises and cuts she didn't remember giving him. "Run into trouble when you left me?" She said this bitterly, not wanting to forgive him for that.

The first obvious thing he noticed about Ritari was that she was still in a bad state, if not worse, and seemed to have more aches than usual. That would be from lying in the same position for a while. Xylon didn't know why her eyes lit up, but didn't really think about it.
That's a bit obvious, he thought when she stated she was lost, but couldn't help a small smile sneak onto his face. Ritari had been lost the first time she met him as well. Coastal vermin. However, at the next question, his pale eyes widened just the slightest. He hadn't expected her to notice.
"No," he lied. The wolf wanted to take her attention off of himself for the moment, but couldn't really find something else to say, and instead hardened his gaze, remembering she didn't really like his unusual eyes.
