Haydn waded back to the campsite, holding the bedrolls dry, over his head. He set them down beside Sak-Raktaa and shrugged off a pack he'd grabbed as well. "Just let me get a fire going and I'll warm up a little food." The wolf said, glancing over his shoulder as he pulled his tinderbox from the bag. He quickly started a small cookfire and started preparing the food. "You look pretty tired.. you can sleep while I warm this up, if you'd like. I'd wake you up when it's ready."

Stripetail sat down in fromnt oif the small fire. The ground was rocky, but he was used to sleeping on the ground. 'if you need help making the fire bigger. I'll be glad to lend a paw" He said to Haydn.

"Be my guest," the wolf replied, withoput taking his eye off the dwindling flame. "I was never much good with fire. I can start it easily enough, but keeping it going is another game all together." He laughed, shielding it with his free paw.

Stripetail gestured and the fire grew larger. "No need for firewood with me around" He cracked.

The wolf lifted an eyebrow in mild surprise, glancing over his shoulder as the fire's ebbing warmth lapped at his shoulder. "I keep forgetting about that."

That is something you shouldn't forget Haydn" Stripetail said. "I can't do everything of course, for example I cant make a fire out of nothing, in a blizzard. But I can do many things"

"I haven't really seen all the good amgic can do, until now, Mara was the only creature I'd seen use it.. Can you give me an idea of what, real magic, good magic, can do?" The wolf's voice was slightly embarassed, so he didn't look at the squirrel, but quickly busied himself with the food.

"That only depends on the purpose you are going to use your magic in the first place." Sek-Raktaa answered, as he made himself comfortable on the bedroll.
"You can do quite a lot with magic. Levitate, make yourself invisible, summon otherworldly creatures, weapons or armour, heal yourself or others and many other things."
Sek-Raktaa yawned. "Magic itself is neither goor nor evil. It's always how to use them. You see, the whole art of magic is separated into several schools. Destruction, mysticism, alteration, restoration, illusion, conjuration, enchanting and alchemy."
He closed his eyes, relaxed and enjoyed the warm feeling of the sun on his body. "I know quite a lot about any of these schools. If your interested, I can show you a trick or two."

I was taught differently than you sek-Raktaa' Stripetail said. "We combined restoration and conjuration- it was called Summoning. exrtremely difficult spells were called life-tasks, which required so much power that an ordinary wizard could only attempt it once or, if lucky, twice in his or her lifetime."

the wolf looked up from the now simmering meal, one ear slightly off kilter as he struggled to follow the conversation. "Um, can any beast learn magic? ... do you have to start young, or have a gift for it?.."

Sek-Raktaa frowned, trying to imagine how a combination of restoration and conjuration would look like, but then shrugged it off. The vagaries of magicka were truly mysterious.

"well, in theory Haydn, yes, anybeast can learn magic, but only those who have innate gifts can become great" Stripetail said. "That's what I was taught. Sek over there may have been taught differently. but if you wish, I could train you, and Sek can help as well."

Haydn looked mildly greatful and hesitant in the same moment. "I wouldn't refuse any instruction you or Sak-Raktaa are willing to give," he said truthfully, "But I'm afraid I have to idea what kind of student I would be.. I guess, in the end, it up to you. Weather or not you think it would be worth your efforts."

We'll start out small' Stripetail said to him. "Magic is not learned in a day, it takes practice and patience. That is why you start with simple spells and magics. You may surprise yourself with what you can do. If your sister Mara can do magic, that I imagine you can too. While it is unlikely you'll ever match her skill in the magic arts, if all goes well, you'll decrease her advantage."

".. I think that would be tactful." The wolf replied pensively. "I've studied the sword for a long while now, and I know that it just isn't enough on it's own; as much as I hate to admit," he chuckled, glancing back at the dinner. "Well, right now the food looks about ready.. but I can't wait to start."
