"Flippin' freezing up here, wot?" A snowshoe hare laughed as he lead a mousemaid and otter up a snowy mountain pass. Though they were wearing layers of thick clothing, they felt as cold as they would have been if they weren't wearing anything. The otter clenched his jaw so that his teeth would stop chattering. But when he tried to open his mouth to say something, his teeth were frozen together. Furiously, he wreched them apart. "How much longer is it going to be until we get there, Syracuse?" he yelled at the hare. Syracuse laughed and leaned on the lance that he was using as a walking stick. "We'll get there soon, Norse. This whole place is littered with deserted cities and anxious adveturers. We're bound to find someone who's looking for one of them soon enough." Norse turned to the mousemaid. "Why are we even up here, Cass?" "Hey, you owe me an advenure after dragging me though that awful mine," Cassandra retorted. "I used to know someone who said that they had actually found something wonderful in a hidden city up here. Maybe we'll get lucky too."

Sek-Raktaa felt cold. Extremely cold. Only naturally though. Everyone would feel extremely cold, if he was tied to a pole, with his skin being the only thing that covered his body.
It just wasn't supposed to be this way. Originally, the monitor lizard had joined a bunch of adventurers around him and togehter they have tried to cross these mountains in search for an ancient, powerful and undoubtedly very valuable artifact.
However, Sek-Raktaa now regretted his decision greatly. The very moment his fellow companions had lost their use in him, they betrayed him. They knew about the cold blooded nature of reptiles and how to get rid of him easily.
They stripped him from everything he had, tied him to a pole and left him to the cold weather of the mountains which would finish the job. On top of that, Sek-Raktaa's fellow companions even went so far as to place what few possession they couldn't need right in front of his snout.
Like his clothes which would help shielding him from the cold and ensure his survival. So close, yet so far. Sek-Raktaa long had seiced to struggle against his bonds. The cold weather had zapped what little strength he had left after his survival. Even someone wasn't going to save him soon, he was sure to die. He already felt numb at various parts of his body.
Another shiver went up his spine and shoke his body. He lifted his snout up and weakly stared up at the sky. In silent prayer, he begged the gods to save him.

The komodo wanted to answer, to reply and to introduce himself but no words came out of his snout. The only noise coming from him was the soft tone of chattering teeth. He was way to weak to speak.
Wearily he looked up at the hedgehog, then gazed towards the skies again. He thanked the gods silently for answering to his prayers, then his head dropped and with the gratitude and trust towards both the hedgehog and the gods, Sek-Raktaa found it easy to fall into unconciousness.

"Sandjo Quickly slashed through the ropes with his spiky claws and picked up the near-frozen lizard. He held him away from his body(To avoid jabbing him with the sharp spikes), and searched for a shelter. While he was doing this he noticed the small supplies the assailants had left, which included Sek's clothes. "This mus' be yours" He thought, picking them up and holding them with his free arm. "Now fore the shelter. Now ther' was supposed to be a hideaway nearby. " " As he talked he continued, he noticed what looked to be thevruins of an old watchtower. "That may be et, if not, it'll have to do"

The first thing Sek-Raktaa became aware of was the fact, that he was still drawing breath. He lived, for the moment. The next thing he became aware of was a soft warmth which surrounded him. It still felt kind of chilly but not as cold as it could or should have been.
He tried to open his eyes and to move, but found himself unable to do so. He was still to weak. Instead, he tried to relax as good as he could and kept on breathing in. A soft warmth was in the air and he could have sworn that he heard the sounds of a fire burning nearby.
After a while, Sek-Raktaa felt some of his strength return and once again he tried to open his eyes. This time however with success. He stared up to an old ceiling made of stone. It looked as though it would be the stone ceiling of an old castle or the ruin of it.
He tried to look around to try and spot his saviour without success. He was alone in here. Wherever here was, that is. He was covered with a couple of blankets, both his and probably the one of his saviour, as well as his clothes. The pile of cloth did a good job of keeping him warm. That, as well as the warm fire which burned nearby.
A weak feeling of security washed over him, so he decided to lay back, relax and wait for the return of his saviour.

Sandjo came into the room bearing a stack of sticks for the fire. Then he noticed Sek."So you made it eh? Sandjo's the name. Found you tied up and necked, no good beast deserves to be treated like that. This old watchtower is the only shelter I could find. What's your nam?"

"Sek-Raktaa." He replied weakly and moved into a position from where he could have a better view on the hedgehog. "Thank... thank you for saving me. I... I guess I owe you something."

"Ah, you'd have done the same for me. Whatdja be doing up here in the cold mountains?"Sandjo asked. "You don't look like the type to live in the cold weather"

"Your right. I'm not meant for the cold." The monitor paused a moment, small shivers running down his spine. "I was hired by a group of adventurers. We... wanted to find an old, hidden city. It's rumored to be the resting place of an ancient and powerful artifact."
He shrugged, although he doubted that the hedgehog could notice the movement through all the covers. "They abandoned me the moment they considered my use to be fulfilled. Guess they don't want to share the reward."

No, those types don't share nothin'. They are all in for themselves.' Sandjo frowned. "So what did they use you for?'

"Heal them after fights, getting rid of ogres, trolls and a couple of goblins along the way." Sek-Raktaa kept silent for a moment, deep in thought. "Guess they wanted a mage to do all the dirty work so they don't have to use up their own supplies or something."
(Hope you don't mind me taking a step further into fantasy.)

(not at all ;D) 'So you know magic? Amazing! So why did they abandon you? Were the close to the treasure and felt you were no longer needed?' Sandjo asked.

"Either that or they didn't want to share their food with me anymore." He sighed heavily. "In any way, we had not been attacked from any creatures for some days. I guess they thought the danger was over and I was no longer needed." He snorted. "I hope the all end up as ogre food."

"Quite a possibility around here" Sandjo nodded. "In the meantime, you need to let yourself recover. I've got food in me knapsack"
