Redstripe yawned as he sat in the big cushy armchair in his room. The fire was blazing nicely and it warmed his old body, he was old yes he'd admit it, now. But he still had his visions of grandeur and still wanted that final battle before he died...but the dibbuns wouldn't let him leave Redwall to do so. He looked in the corner at his armor and his axe and sighed. The sight he saw was of blurry metal and fuzziness, he doubted he could even fight anymore. No...NO! He was Redstripe the Strong! He never backed down from a challange! No matter what the odds Redstripe was a warrior, a fighter, and a protector. He stood up shedding the blanket that was laid across him.
He walked over to his armor and his axe and grabbed them. There was a gleam in his eyes as the familiar weight of the axe entered his paw and the armor in his other made him smile. He brushed a tear away from his eye and sniffled, he couldn't leave Redwall...the dibbuns wouldn't let him and he wouldn't let himself. But as long as he breathes he will protect this great Abby. He turned as there was a knock at his door, he wondered who it could be as he headed for the door.

The young Dibbun Artimus stood in the doorway, holding a glass of dewmilk. "For you massa Redstripe" he said in a small squeaky voice. Artimus was a mole, who dearly loved Redstripe.'what"cha doing?' he asked innocently..

Upon seeing who it was Redstripe straightened himself up and made him look all that he was in his warrior youth. He smiled at Artimus,"Just thinking about my youthful days. Days of adventure and all that sort." He was fond of the mole and all the other dibbuns, he never thought he'd be the sitting in a room type. But here he was."Well bring it in here to the chair and I'll tell you a story as payment for the dewmilk."

Artimus did as he was told. he put the glass on the arm of the chair."Can you tell me a story about that Seer? Stripe- Stripey, you know, your friend?" Artimus fumbled with the words. Redstripe had told stories of his friendship with Stripetail the Seer, who travailed the lands, never staying long in one place. Artimus had never met him, but from the vivid stories Redstripe told, he had a mental picture of him. Artimus saw a faint smile play on the mouth of the old badger..his eyes sparkled...

Redstripe nodded and sat himself down in his chair. He moved a little to get comfortable and sighed."Aye, it's a story about a long time ago. Bout me an Stripetail's adventures." Redstripe looked at Artimus,"Shouldn't be too long before he's in Redwall again, he never fails to show up around the beginning of each season...I think its for the food thats served." He winked and thought for a minute, what story should he tell? "Ah. I'll tell you about the time that I first met ole Stripetail...it was long ago, I was still young and not so bright. I found me'self on a little rowboat headed for disastor. Bout to sink I spotted three figures on the shore and it was Stripetail an two otters...though I don't remember either of the otters." He scratched his chin,"Don't even know if the isle had a name for that matter..." He recalled an incident with a small crab and his tounge, well lets not tell Artimus it happened to Redstripe..."Oh yeah, Stripetail tried to eat a crab afore it was cooked, I warned him they are dangerous but he didn't listen, that crab latched right onto his tounge. He was thrashing about like a little babe till I pried the little guy off." A little white lie, no harm done."Then we set sail trying to find the mainland. Then we spotted some slavers and freed their slaves and took over their ship. T'was the first time I'd ever really seen magic and such, but I was too into the battle to be awed."
He sighed and looked at the fire, it was starting to die down. So he stood up and threw a few more logs on he fire and sat down again. He looked at Artimus,"Now where was I?"
OOC:I'm pretty much telling about the otterbabe leaning against a rock rp from where redstripe joined in. I thought it'd make a good story.

(thats fine... nice way to connect the previous stories. And you're doing a good job..) The story as one might expected, had hooked the young otter. Hearing tales of magic and other wondorous things were a surefire way to grab, and hold his attention. He lookee at the old badger with awe-struck eyes.. I think ya was talking about that.. ship.. you got took from the vermin' He said half-guessing. The story in truth had happened nearly a hundred seasons before, and in all likelihood, Redstripe and Stripetail were the only ones still alive who had played a part in it..

"Right...the ship." Redstripe nodded as he remembered Felkar and he grinned."Well after we beat the slavers and sent them on their way a storm started. Their captain was blown onto deck and being the goodbeasts that we are me an Stripetail helped him out, cleaned and dressed his wounds. Then Stripetail showed his more wild side chugging down bottle after bottle of grog." Of course that was Redstripe, but another part of the story he thought was better the way he told it."After a while he passed out and then vomited." Redstripe nodded satisfied with his little alteration."Then we spotted land and turned out to be the island where I was raised. Then we met some more otters, well I had gone off into the surrounding forest to find some shrews that I knew lived on the Isle. Then there was a giant eel, the otters killed one but after seeing the corpse I knew it wasn't the same I had seen. But while on the isle we got jumped by some tree rats but they didn't last long. After a few days on the island repairing the ship we headed out and found our way back to the mainland, we hit shore near Salamandastron then headed for Mossflower. Then we started on a whole new adventure going our separate ways. Since then me an Ole Stripetail have had our meetings every so often.
Redstripe sighed and finished off his dewmilk and smiled,"Well thats the story for tonight. Maybe next time I'll tell you about a Ripfang the wolf, or Ole Grey." He smiled,"But for now its getting late, bet your mum's wonderin where you got to."

"Thank you, Massa Redstripe" Artimus said cheerily. He laughed as the badger patted him warmly on the head and shooed him to the door. "G'Night" Massa Redstripe" He said before turning and closing the door. the soft footsteps of the mole moved away and down some stairs, fading into the distance. rEdstripe was now alone.

Redstripe smiled warmly and walked over to his window. He looked outside and opened the window. He took in a deep breath of the cool night air. He sighed and shook his head, he could feel somthing on the horizon...whether it be good or bad his old bones couldn't tell. He closed the window and grabbed a small blanket, well it was small to him. He sat down in his armchair and wrapped the blanket around his shoulders. He yawned and looked at the fire, still crackling and warm.

Some distance away, the Seer Stripetail finaly caught sight of Redwall Abbey. A Smile ran across the squirell's face- Redwall was a dear home to him. He was coming back from a long journey to Salamandastron, the Badger Lord Ruthos was ill amd had summoned him to his side. "He will need a sucessor soon, or if I cannot find one, I will have to find a badger to be a placeholder" Stripetail said , his breath visible in the chill air. "I wonder..." His eyes sparkled as the smile grew broader. "Yes...my old friend.. if he is willing...and able..." His thoughts wandered off as he made his way towards the front gate.

Redstripe snored peacefully, unaware of Stripetail's approach to Redwall.
"Bo Hurr. Is a'ways moi job to check the gates, Oid rather be checkin moi mum's deeper'en'ever poi." A short, but stocky mole, walked towards the gatehouse grumbling and complaining. Hurliy was his name and gatekeeping wasn't his favorite task.
OOC:Hurliy is an NPC. And gah to molespeech, I did my best.

(its not bad.. lol. I've seen worse) Stripetail reached the gates, which shone in the moonlight. 'Closed for the night.. I See" he said quietly. He knocked on the gate with his staff. "Hello? is anybeast there?' He called out. He struck the gate again with his staff. It was late and Stripetail was tired from his journey...

Hurliy looked up as he heard the knocking, figures someone would show up when it was his shift."Hurr mabee or mabee not. H'ar you'm ah good beast or ah bad beast?"

"A goodbeast my friend, it is I, the Seer Stripetail. I wish to enter Redwall. It is late, and I have travelled far, and I don't want to make these gates open by force' Stripetail said firmly. He was tired, and in no mood for small talk. "Now, if you would kindly open this gate, I can enter and you can go back to the gatehouse, and both of us can get some sleep. "

"Now 'ee would't appen to be 'ee Stroiptail?" Hurliy had only heard the name a few times, mainly from the older beasts. Master Redstripe talked about him alot, so maybe it was the one and the same. He went about moving the heavy timber beam, he let it drop to the ground as he opened the gates.
